how awsome is it...

...to win an invitational? not just place, but come in first? our team won the seeded varsity race at the wickham park invitational in connecticut this weekend. decent sized race - 24 teams - and we had 3 girls in the top 10. and two of our usual varsity girls werent even there! we cooled down singing and screaming and chanting, and we ended up getting a huge trophy and taking millions of pictures. lots of warm fuzzy team-spirit-ness. we were the only team from new york there...we sure showed those connecticut-ians!

Re: how awsome is it...
That's pretty awesome to win a meet of that magnitude. We've won 9 out of our 11 meets but I think only 1 of them was an invitational so most of our wins aren't too significant.

Also, I have a question for you:

Is Wickham Park a flat/fast course?

I'm wondering this because I believe the New England Chanpionsips are being held there.

Re: how awsome is it...
i raced at wickham too but had a bad race, got 38 in the varsity race with a bad time, one thing i have to say ,wickham is where NE's are going to be held and is not flat, it has a really good hill about half way through the race. Professor, i've never ran thier before but i want to know how that couse became legal, i know in rhode island that you can only cross over roads/pavement, while half the wickham course is roads and pavement????

Re: how awsome is it...
i can will handle that question since i coach in connecticut and used to run at wickham in high school. There is no rule against it in connecticut.... technically in connecticut the whole course could be on pavement

Re: how awsome is it...
How do you have seventh-graders running for your team?

Someone once wrote about a road race I ran that "the first few professional runners completed the 10 km course in about 1 hour and 15 minutes."

Strange, I finished in 39:xx. :rolleyes
