A 7:15 mile (or whatever the time was) is good for a begginer, I suppose. When I started to keep time, my PR was 8:14. Then I got it to 8:00, then 7:44 in a race, and 7:20 on a dec 31 race. It was my 2nd year of running... I didn't run that much the first year and got times in the 9-10 minute area.
And to whoever asked, I just finished my freshman year and my PR was 5:47... with terrible shin splints meaning racing on them, training badly, and no weight training for the legs.
Even with the injury, I was still keeping up with our sophmores, who got down to 5:20 by the end of the season (doctor said to take 3 weeks off for them... didn't help though.)
So as a freshman, I could have gotten 5:25 while running with a bad injury. I'm really hoping the shin splints GO AWAY soon so I can get back to running. It looks like my summer training is going to be a joke due to them, they're back just 2 weeks in.
