Shox?

Do running shoes with shocks really have any special benefit? I heard basketball shox do for basketball which makes sense with jumping but what about running? Thanks

Re: Shox?
I own 5 pairs of shox, but only for school. I heard you can easily roll your ankle running with these, but for the price, you can get a much better running shoe IMO. I love them for looks, but not for running. Personally, I would choose my brooks over my shox for running any day.

Re: Shox?
Running shoes with Shox technology are actually more durable than most shoes, and certainly more than the traditional air unit in Nike shoes. Disregard the look, it's probably no goofier than the air pocket once was. I've worn the Shox 2:45 and I have to say that it's a very smooth ride and very well-cushioned, although it's really expensive. They look absolutely ridiculous, for whatever it's worth.

Re: Shox?
I disagree completely. I've tried the Shox and I think they are a horrible running shoe. They feel like you've got two slabs of concrete stuck to the bottom of your feet. More cushioning is not necessarily a good thing and I think that shoes like this are what lead people to injuries.
Do not get the shox. They're all show and no shoe.

Re: Shox?
A local running specialty store, which is run by a college track/cc coach, pretty much refuses to sell nike shox to anybody doing more than walking, if that tells you anything. I've never tried them personally though, as they just seem too cheap and gimmicky.

Five is a lot, but I just like the way they look. If you want a good running shoe, then don't buy these, alexanderthegr8 is right, they're all show.

Re: Shox?
If you are heavier they might be good. They are a pretty beefy shoe. I love them for school and they are so so for running because I'm not used to them and I love light flexible shoes which they aren't. I'd start with a more normal runing shoe if I were you though. Some people love em. They do have more "rebound" its kind of a spring action kinda thing. If your looking to race in them though I would definately go with a lighter shoe, and if your running XC you should probably have something with traction. Of course I've run races on pure pavement running XC. And then they take us to regionals and states which is pure trail and grass. Yup.

Re: Shox?
Shox may have some benefits, but they are dangerous

Nike hasn't had a good running shoe line for a number of years. Some shoes fit some runners and are ok, but unfortunately for those of us that used to be diehard Nike fans, its just not there anymore.

Remember, a shoe is design for a specific foot, so make sure you're in one that works for you. If you're in MA check out Marathon Sports for help. they are usually great there, though it may cost you a little more. They'll also suggest you take them out for a run around the block before you buy them!

For the best overall shoe company, I have to give it to Asics. They have shoes for everyone and there 2000 and 1000 series are great 'I don't know anything about shoes' shoes. I've been in the DS Trainer for many years, but they narrowed the toebox on the new model and it doesn't work for me anymore. All three are great shoes in my mind (DS only for efficient runners, with few injuries and no overpronation, and only good for 300-500 miles).

I agree! I just bought some Asics - I previously used Nike Shox..I love my Asics! They are so much more comfortable and cushioning..I don't plan on going back to my Shox anytime soon!

Re: Shox?
Shox only give you minimal bouncyness (for lack of a better word). They are not very helpful and are just too expensive.
