I ran an invitaational for XC in September... it was right after hurricane ivan, we're running in the woods right after this huge hill and this kid jumps out of the bushes right next to me, looks around to see if no one saw him, then is just like "hows it goin man" and sped away

I was running down the street when, for reasons I now forget, I ended up having a chat with a guy passing out flyers for a wrestling club in the area. I did wrestle on and off in high school, though I was terrible at it because of poor co-ordination. It turned out that he was a former teacher at my high school (twenty minutes to the west) and he knew one of my coaches. We shared a good laugh and agreed that the coach in question was a total jerk.

Last tuesday I was running the 3200 and at the start line there was this real wirey looking kid. at the start of the race there was such a large pack i couldn't tell where anybody was. about 6 laps in i see him ahead of me goin pretty slow. as i start to pass him and go onto my 7th he lunges and was just extatic and i was like no way i didn't see him lap me? then i over hear the official say to him that he still has 2 to go! i tried not to laugh...

you are talking to the queen of the klutzes here...i cant even count the number of times ive run into people, tripped over people, tripped over myself...you get the picture.
here are some classics: once we were running inside during winter track--ok, i lied, walking back from strides--and i step on a piece of paper and WHAM flat on my back on the floor. hard, too--my feet kinda flew out from under me. its silent for a second or two, then this one girl says, really loud--"That sounded like a firecracker!" and everybody starts laughing (including me, as im lying on the floor in pain--i got a giant bruise on my butt.)
then there was the time during winter track when we were at the Amory in nyc. the track has banked curves, and i was really nervous i was gonna fall off or something. i hugged the inside of the first lane so much that i stepped on the little metal rail there and fell on my face after taking about 5 steps. funny thing was, it was a relay and i was last leg--it was really spread out--so i was all by myself. and there's hundreds of people there in the stands. i got up anyway though and finished with the 2nd fastest time on my relay team. ended up with a rugburned knee and a sprained ankle.
then--this wasnt actually when i was running but it was on the bus on the way to a meet--u know that seat in the middle of the bus that folds up? well i was sitting in that seat...i stood up to talk to somebody and the seat folded up but i didnt notice. so when i went to sit down...yeah. same effect as pulling a chair out from under somebody as they're about to sit down.

I was running up a long, tough hill at an XC meet last fall and one of the boys on the opposing team pulled his pants down and mooned me while I was running. I was pretty ******, but then he came in dead last in his race so..bad karma. But it was still pretty funny, I guess.

This isn't really "while I was running" but thought i'd post it anyway, I fall all the time, and yesterday at one of our meets we have one of those big utility tubs that we put stuff in if it rains, and well it didnt rain but it was suppose to and it was right in front of our awning set up for the team. I had turned around to talk to a friend and kept walking and walked right into this huge tub and fell over it headlong into the grass with the whole team watching, have grass stains to prove it Most likely the largest thing I have ever tripped over, my team couldn't stop laughing....

that reminds me...a girl on our team once (supposedly) ran over a chipmunk during a XC race...with those big XC spikes in. Roadkill...
