Re: bragging about your kids!?!?!
Posted in a thread "how quick can you guys run the mile..." by a 15-year old, how's this reply gonna help him?
Proud dad of an eight year old who just ran a 6:15 mile. He likes to run and play soccer. At the start of the track season he was around 7:00.
Same thread, there's another reply about an 8-year old, that isn't gonna really help the 15 year old now is it...
My 8 year old son just beat his personel record for the mile, 6:22, he also ran a 1:22 for the 400M on the same night. He loves the competition of trying to pass the older kids running so that helps.
Then you posted this, mep5555, which yes, it does answer the question posed by the 5th grader, but then you had to keep going on about who can or cannot beat your daughter...
My 4th grade daughter's fastest mile is 7:20 (but probably could be a few seconds faster). No other 9-year old Oklahoma female ran a faster 5K than her last year (24:21), and no 10-year old OK female has run faster than her 24:27 so far this year. There are several girls 1-2 years older than her who can beat her though. There is one other 10-year old from down in the southern part of the state (in a town with lots of GREAT young female runners (12-13) who may eventually run a faster 5K than my daughter this year...she's already beaten her at the 3K distance late last year.
Like, you actually keep track of the other 10 year-old runners in the area, and their PR's along with your daughter's PR's? At that age, wouldn't you just be glad that your daughter has an interest in running at all? You're so quick with all these statistics about your daughter, and your daughter's competition...when she should just enjoy running period. Because once she gets to H.S. there will be enough pressure about times, etc, believe me.
I'm sure you'll say that these 3 examples didn't prove my point at all...whatever...there's probably more but I have wasted way too much time on this thread and I have "homework to do, friends to see, and chores to do" and miles to run. I'm through with it. Have a nice day.
