Wetsuits are unnecessary and illegal in many swim races (all real swim races).  They may be beneficial for cold water training if the water is too cold to stand.  In races where wetsuits are allowed, you might as well use them and cheat like the rest of the cheating cheaters.  OK, sorry for the tone, but too many people rely on wetsuits and pull buoys.  Just go bare back and raw dog.
