Re: How many of you teens actually watch what you eat?
Yeah, I watch what I eat. Sometimes though my non-athletic/healthy friends give me the weirdest looks. I don't drink pop, eat foods w/ white flour (unless it is pizza, which I don't have alot of) or have alot of snack stuff.
I Love granola, homade spelt bread, salads and fruit.

Re: How many of you teens actually watch what you eat?
Me too on the potato rolls/bread. I love that stuff. My friends look at me funny when I tell them what my sandwich is made of though.

I don't eat too unhealthily to start with and in season I am more careful. I don't have soda in or out of season and I try to limit junk food and sweets all the time. At the beginning of our season, our coach gives us a list of suggestions of things that we shouldn't eat (chips, fast food, etc.)

My one thing in season though, is after a saturday meet, when I don't have to run the next day, I get a bowl of ice cream.

Re: How many of you teens actually watch what you eat?
I have been watching what I eat since 5th grade. I have a tough time though, because if I am not told to eat, I don't. Simple as that. I just never care to.

Re: How many of you teens actually watch what you eat?
I eat pretty healthy especially In season! No cokes or anything like that. Lots of veggies ( i have times where i feel as if im in a vegtable defiecincy and can eat a whole cucumber or bell pepper for a snack).
I do eat gummi bears after every XC race and some track meets bc i love them and i pass it off as restoring lost glucose from the race quickly.... plus if it makes yall feel better they are fat free.
I do love carbs though. CARBS CARBS CARBS! MMMMMM potatoes and bread and pasta and more and more and more! If you run and your in your teenage years and very active you should not try to go into calorie defieciet and more likely than not eat more calories than are recommended for your inactive counterparts. I probably eat between 2500 and 3000 calories give or take some a day. (i dont really count but thats a rough estimate) I have also just been blessed by a high metabolism~ just hit a 100lbs a few weeks ago

Re: How many of you teens actually watch what you eat?
Well, since I'm on a vegan diet it's pretty hard for me to eat much junk. I do watch what I eat pretty closely, because I don't want to be deficient in any nutrients.

I usually have something like:
Breakfast:
Oats with raisins, almonds, dried apricots and soy milk

Snack:
Piece of fruit

Lunch:
At least one bread roll with salady type stuff

Snack:
Fruit, quite a bit of bread, glass of soy milk

Dinner:
Whatever I feel like cooking.

And that provides about 2,500 calories.

Re: How many of you teens actually watch what you eat?
Normally, I eat pretty decently. A slight splurge here and there. But in my injury hibernation I'm currently beginning (HOW MANY MORE WEEKS TIL I CAN RUN AGAIN?! OR WALK?!), I've found more kitkats finding their way to my mouth. Not good. Hopefully when I get back to school and back to a somewhat more normal routine, my diet will be healthy. It's hard to push myself now in that department. I feel almost depressed about all the things I can and cannot atheletically do. I'm having grilled chicken for dinner....

Re: How many of you teens actually watch what you eat?
I'm not a teen but my daughter is ...

she doesn't cut out the junkie stuff completely but she does make sure to eat enough of the healthy stuff while in training ... she eats more whole grains, eggs, yogurt, fruit, and protein like tune, chicken and such ... she asks a lot more questions like, "Will this be good for my running?" or "Should I take iron and vitamins since I'm running and starting to feel like I have a cold?"

anyways .... I know she cares and is trying to do the right thing ... but she likes fun food and doesn't leave them out just because she's running more seriously ...
