summer running camps- are they a good idea

I was looking on ussportcamps.com where they have lists of running camps and I was wondering if anyone had ever gone to one and what they were like. I was also wondering if it would be appropriate for my level of running because last year was my first year running cross country and I was JV. Some of the ones I found looked like fun, but I don't know if it is just something for the advanced runners. Any one who has gone to a running camp would be really helpful!

Re: summer running camps- are they a good idea
does anyone know of a camp where their is actually a social life between guys and girls, the one i went to last year was just a bunch of guys and no chicas. It's a good feeling after running hard in the morning to have some chicks to hang out with in the afternoon.

Has anyone ever been to the Sub5 Nike camp in Illinois or heard anything about it? Apparently it's really good, and I'm planning on going this year.

Has anyone attended the Gold Medal Running Camp in Hanover NH?
I'm thinking of sending my 14 year old daughter there this summer.

Re: summer running camps- are they a good idea
Our HS team goes to a State Park a couple hours from here every summer. We go for about a week and it's really awesome. It's a great way to bond with the team and get motivated for the upcoming XC season.

Re: summer running camps- are they a good idea
Hey, yeah I've been looking for a running camp during the summer.
Do you guys know any good ones in California when I go back? I'm living overseas right now, so I don't know a lot about these things. But it looks like fun going to a running camp, than running by yourself.

Does anyone know of a running camp in the midwest that is at least 3 weeks in length (the long the better)?

Yes, running camps rock. I'm going to my school sponsored one which is always fun and this summer I'm going to PAAVO camp in Michigan.
