I love running, it is a passion and has helped me in many physical ways. However, it is frequently difficult to get in my daily three miles without gastrointestinal pain, therefore limiting myself to just walking part of it. I am 100% ready for a few miles, as it is not difficult and most enjoyable, but it is often hard to have to give up after your second mile.
Anyone have any advice?
Anyone else out there suffer from IBS?
I have ulcerative colitis. It really only becomes a problem when it is hot out but I can usually control it when I am hydrated. That seems to be the key for me, hydration.

Cully, the symptoms and severity are not even similar. How much do you run, and how severe are your symptoms?

There's tons of BS threads out there why not go find one?
Sorry I tried to help!

Check your facts, Cullen. They aren't similar, so I haven't a clue as to why you're posting in this thread.
If you have advice, leave it here.
If you don't, leave.
From MedicineNet.com:
"Ulcerative colitis is closely related to another condition of inflammation of the intestines called Crohn's disease. Together, they are frequently referred to as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). "
you asked on another thread if anyone had IBS or IBD. i think cully was just trying to help...

This may be a dead thread but...
Have you tried taking a dump in the middle of a run? That may be hard to plan, but you might try it. I'm thinking use a public bathroom, or plant some toilet paper out in the country. I only suggest that (cause it's a bit extreme) because IBS sounds like it can be REAL painful, so perhaps it's worth a try.
