Re: running movies
Running Brave is probably the best one out there. Prefontaine/Without Limits are garbage.

Re: running movies
Without Limits is actually a very well made movie. ITs very inspiring. Certainly not worthy of the title "garbage"

Re: running movies
I personally really liked Without Limits...i found 4 Minutes to be a little boring, but maybe that's just because I'm more familiar with Pre's career than Bannister's.

if you liked that movie, read The Perfect Mile. it's about the same thing...it also documents the other 2 guys who were trying to break the four minute mile at the same time, John Landy and Wes Santee. it was really interesting, how different running was back then...

Re: running movies
Saint Ralph was hokey, boring, and unrealistic. It had its moments, but it was corny. It inspired me to run that day, so it can do anything!

I disliked Saint Ralph immensely. Anyone who knows anything about real marathon training will just be sick. For those who enjoyed it, I do not mean to criticize your taste; it's just not a running movie.

My favorites are the ultrarunning documentaries: "Running on the Sun" and "Run for the Soul." You do NOT have to be an ultrarunner to enjoy these movies. Your 10K or Half M. (or 26.2 for that matter) is going to look like a walk in the park, and you will be inspired in ways you couldn't imagine.

But the main reason I love them is that you see real people, over 30 yrs old, running amazing distances in difficult conditions. You learn their personal stories. If you want to see where good training practices and passion for your sport can take you, these movies are the best! No actors, real stories, real runners!
