Back Pains

OK, after experiencing a fall from a tree a week ago, i am now experiencing back pains whenever i start to run. i feel tightening in my lower back around the lumpar, and in my upper back right by my neck. I have already tried numerous stretching routines, and now i have a race coming up on saturday, do you think i should bail out and not do the race, or try and find some way to fix my back problems (preferably the second one)

Re: Back Pains
i have back pains too, but all the time, not just when i run...it started a few weeks ago and haven't gone away. I've been to two different chiropractors, gotten a massage, and stretched alot...everything helped temporarily but nothing got rid of it! So i'd like to hear some advice on this too, as i'm running a half-marathon this weekend.

Re: Back Pains
one time a long time ago i fell off the monkey bars right on to my back, my back ached for a month and the only conclusion i could come up with was that i bruised the bone or tweeked something. My only suggestion is ice and advil because there is likely some inflammation. Only bail out of the race if the pain continues through saturday, with luck and advil you may get the pain to go down and still be able to race.

running is like hitting your head against a brick wall, it feels good when you stop, but until then have fun.
