Haha, well that was a bit of creative marketing, I haven't exactly broken it yet:P I think I'm in shape for sub 19 in a race situation - my last 'tempo run' (turned into a VO2 max workout - I got a little excited:P) was 19:10, and that was on a unmown grass playing field with lots of nasty corners to slow me down. I figure there's easily 10 seconds there or am I being optimistic:P? In any case, I'll find out this Sunday (first race in ages !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|border=0!).

What times are you running nowadays? It's always been my goal to catch up to you:P You seemed to have run times at the start of the year that I wanted to hit by the end of the year:P

Yea, I agree with Kirby here. You suck.  If you were better you wouldn't suck. Hahaha, just kidding. But serious, if there are people that have better times then you at the same age, you aren't going fast enough.

the fastest freshman in my high school runs between 16:00 and 16:30 about there... so about you "doing all right", you can always do better.

Thanks! I just ran a big PB last month of 17:44. Your structured training approach is going to work well for you. I think the one thing that keeps improvements coming from year to year is having 4-5 months to train consistently. The winter here in Canada is great for that, though I think you've got a summer coming up.

    Re: 5k times?

i ran my first 5k a month ago and ran 28:26; it was just cus my friend got me to do it.  I didn't play any sports in high school and my college doesn't have any organized sports so I'm trying to start running races so I have something to do.  I'm not in great shape but not horrible shape.  I'm running a 5k in 2 weeks, anyone have any suggestions on training?  There's also a 8k in a month I wanna try to do.

    Re: 5k times?

I haven't done any official courses this season, but my best time in 2006, as a freshman, was a 20:28.  I had a broken leg that year from February to August.  After having a full summer training this year, I am barely breaking 20.  I am sucking...

alright heracles, thanks.  i'll start it on monday, i'm gonna go try to find a track i can run at tomorrow, there's one a few blocks up from my apartment but iono if i can get in... i'm in downtown charlotte, nc so there aren't many schools within running distance and it's not flat for more than 100 yards on the street
