What really bothers me..

I don't care if someone's faster than me. I respect them, they earned it. But what really annoys me .. is when people are faster than me and then they add "but I was only doing 5mpw and I've only been running for 4 months." I don't mean the guy is just running a little bit less than you, I mean he just started and he's faster than you.

Maybe I'm just jealous, and maybe I shouldn't be posting this here.
Example:
I can run a 5k in (insert pr minus 30 seconds). I weigh 250 pounds and have been running for 5 weeks. I run 2 miles a day 3 times every week.
Isn't that so annoying? You worked for years to earn what you have, but then some other guy does a little running and he's faster.

Thankfully some of this will go away as I get faster.. until then I guess it's just a part of running I'll have to accept.

Lol, yeah that sucks. Maybe they're just saying that to **** you off. They're probably running 100mpw and that's the only way they can beat your genetic freakiness

Re: What really bothers me..
I know people like that. Eventually everyone just ends up making fun of the douchebag behind his back (I am thinking of one person in particular).

Re: What really bothers me..
I know what you're saying, there always seems to be a walk on fat (and by fat I mean untrained) kid who can just barely beat you.

It ****** me off too.

Re: What really bothers me..
That annoys me too, but the runners with only talent but no motivation usually end up dropping out. A guy I knew won the county championship 800m when he was 13 and was one of the best runners in my school. Now he smokes, drinks and hasn't run one mile in the past year.

Re: What really bothers me..
Um...I think we're talking about the people who work hard but tell everyone they're not to appear better than they actually are. I don't care if you beat me but don't try, it's when you work hard to beat me and then lie, claiming that you've done no work to be me. It's insulting.

Re: What really bothers me..
What exactly is a runner's body? Genetics won't really determine your fat composition, look at starving people in Africa. If you're talking about height, I don't think that matters too much. Supposedly most elite runners are around 170cm, but you've always got outliers like Craig Mottram, who absolutely towers over the kenyans.

I'm sure if most people, even the morbidly obese, worked at it, they could get a runner's body too. It's not something you're born into.
