Water is WATER! buying into the whole smart water craze is not smart (hint hint) and will drain you of money. It costs a few cents to get it out of the tap and its just as good for you as the smart water is. If you believe you need some electrolytes then put some more salt on your food.

and as a funny story one of my friends was saying how smart water tastes better and all that junk so another one of my friends who had the bottle let him have a drink. The 1st friend went on proclaiming how amazing it tasted so much better than tap water. the 2nd friend had refilled it earlier in the day from the schools water fountain.

Re: Middle Schoolers
To begin with. That is a funny story twigger. But you are right water is water. There isn't a way that you can get water into you system any faster than just plain water.

Water can be absorb through your stomach wall and there is no way that you or anyone can speed up that absorbtion. This is why you don't want to mix you sports drinks to strong. Because if you do your body treats it as food and it goes into your intestines to be absorbed which take a lot longer.

We complain about the cost of gas but buying just "regular" water is more expencive than gas. Which is kindof stupid. Of course gas is substitised by the goverment in an effort to let the fossil fuel companies make more money which they don't need to do. I'm sure that money passed under the table. But before I go on more of a rant I must stop.

Re: Middle Schoolers
Im 13, in 8th grade and I just started running last year in 7th grade. My pr's from last year are 400= 1:04(this was this year at the end of a cc practice =]) 800=2:40 mile= didn't run it but during CC I got a 6:10 this year.

This year i know I will be alot better and im excited.

My goals are

400: 1:00-59.9, mainly just want to get down to 1 min, breaking 1 minute would be fantastic.

800: 2:15 for state, i know i can do it!

Mile: I most likley won't run it, but if i do anything below 5:50 is fine for me. I usually never run the mile, and im not such a distance person, 800 is my passion =].

Re: Middle Schoolers
I'm in 7th grade (boy) in Illinois and i was just wondering what the state requirements were for the mile. I just got back from a track meet in Newton and i ran the 1600 meters in 5:30 and the 800 meters in 2:33, but i heard the requirements for the 1600 meters was 5:25 but this is my first meet... so if anyone knows anything about the state requirements id like to know.
