I tell them it's like riding a dirt bike. It's just fun somehow. plus I AM the machine, and I'm more connected to my feet and legs than gears and wheels, and I can jump fences and things.
thanks guys, you all have put words to things i never thought about before. i live in a 'game town' too and all anyone cares about is our football team. they're pretty good but all of our other teams get nothing whileparents of football players are trying to get all of the athletes to help in a fundraiser so the football team can get new stuff.
I honestly can't put into words why I enjoy running. It's something more than that.
As for the football thing, I understand that. Our football team used to be big a few years back and the track programs got nothing. It's still that way, even though the track program is the most successful in school.
It can change my mood completely in one day.
Like someone else said, it's great anger management.
You can control how fast and far you go.
You can't blame anyone else for a bad performance, it's all you, and that makes me more motivated.

hahaahh yeah running is the only thing im good at too .. other sports like my face ..
running is so much simpler than everything else in life. you go out and run with one goal in mind...finish. it straight foward and makes you feel more connected to yourself. and being away at college, its the one thing that keeps me connected to my roots.
it feels good to run at the end of the day and burn off the stress. plus, in the warm weather, you get to be outside and it feels so good. and running with a friend is fun. i always love the feeling after physical activity, and being able to go on a nice distance run with a friend makes it even better.
I love the feeling that you get after running...its liked you accomplished something only if you only ran an 8 min mile, started at home and ended at home. plus, i can always focus better, have more energy, and am in a better mood after i run.
