I run cross country and LOVE it, but my mother hates everything about it.

unlike most parents, she doesn't want me doing a sport at all. she tries to make me not go to practice and thinks that i shouldn't have to go to practice any more than 4 out of the 6 weekly practices. Even though i'm a captain she doesn't consider the captains practices mandadory for me to attend. the worst of it was last year she said to me and one of my friends on the team, "I hope you guys don't get into states, because i don't want to take you home from practice for another week." this pissed me off so much that i got into states as a freshman (i'll be a sophomore this coming school year) just in spite of her, but how do i make her understand how important cross country really is to me???

by the way, i get really good grades (all A's and B's) and am in 3 honors classes. i'm in perfectly good health, too. i don't see why she doesn't want me to run!
