I have a similar one (happened today in fact):

"So you run cross country right? So do you do them hurdle things or what?"

(Cringing inside and trying not to laugh) I explained that XC is very different from track, and in fact is not even run on a track. Geez.

There are lots of cross country races that use hurdles/barriers. It's really popular in Europe and Africa.

I actully got this from my freshman on my team yesterday when i asked ever to tell there pr in the 5k

So everyone whats the fastest u have run a 5k?

I guess it just seemed really strange b/c when he asked me about the hurdles I was picturing actual track hurdles set up in a row in the middle of a field or something lol. It makes sense to use barriers, although it would be nice if they could use natural ones like creeks, fallen trees, etc.

Yesterday the ran 5 laps in offseason over a period of like 35 minutes, you would have thought they had just ran a marathon when they came into the locker room. lol

me: I just got back from a run.
grama; What, did you run back to the woods an back?

to the woods and back is like barely a mile, I try to tell her that I ran about that 7 times over but shes already off in her own little world about how I should try out for some musical :P . not exactly my thing.
Sorry that may have been a little TMI. oh well.

Me: Running
Not so fit person: Oh that is really bad for your knees.

"I bet it gets easier every time right?"

Oh and I love it when your friends try to brag about you (sarcasm) it drives me insane a) they almost always say you run about an eighth as much as you do and still think it is incredible b) it is extremely embarassing

I love it when people tell other people my times. I won't tell anyone my times every, unless asked. So I like it when they do. Most of them know a little bit about running because they ask about how far I went and know that its the norm in our community. As long as they don't challenge anyone I could care less.
