Running six days a week?

I've chosen not to run cross country at my school due to extensive homework and simply the fact that I'm not fast enough even for junior varsity...I'm working on that though...

I've been doing 5-6 miles (half-one mile is warm up) moderate-hard intensity seven days a week with steep hills but I'm considering training only six days a week...will this hinder my training?

I'm considering this because I've been so tired all of the time and I'm running weak because I don't have any energy...

Any comments, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest going and taking the seventh day off. It lets you rest both physically and mentally. I know I always appreciate my rest day.

Running only 6 days a week will not hurt your training. Like AFewScrewsLoose said you need the rest day. Plus if you don't take rest days you increase your changes of getting injuried, more prone to stress fractures and so fort. So run 6 days and enjoy a rest day

you need that rest to ever get fast. Doing the same kind of work outs every day will never get you better. It would be better to only run 4 days a week with easy runs and speed work than seven datss of 5-6 mile tempo runs.

Yeah I see what you mean. I run everyday, but you gotta make sure you remember that you "get to run" you have to kep the flame going and never stop pushing it. Keep working to get to higher levels, or else you get bored and stop improving.
One more week till I get to cut the PPMs and start SIs

YEP... I think it's so cool how we are going back and forth like this. I am writing a comment to one, then I go chack the other, and you just posted, how cool is that. We are tearin' it up in here.
This is so fun.

You should have more variety than
quote:
RunningOnClouds: I've been doing 5-6 miles (half-one mile is warm up) moderate-hard intensity seven days a week with steep hills

I wish I had your kind of will power; I run 10 or more times a week, between school practice(fartleks, intervals...) and joggling (3-10 miles at a time). That's probably why my times are suffering. I just see my shoes, juggling balls, and I can't resist.

6 days a week is definately good for this point in the season; I'm going to attempt to cut myself back to 5 when districts+ come. As long as you do work hard, breaks are beneficial. They give your muscles time to recover rather than tear tear tear.

Nothing wrong with running every day. If you're just feeling tired that's fine. Your body will eventually get used to it. Maybe try taking it easier on a few of those days. Also try changing up the distance you run. Try 8 miles one day and then 4 the next instead of running 2 six-milers.
