What's your treat after a good run?

What do you have as a "guilty pleasure" after a run? My thing is a bottle of chocolate milk... tastes great, has protein and carbs, and tides me over until I can eat something more solid.

I figure a daily c.m. is better after a run, than my bag of chips without the run a few months ago.

Welcome to Cool Running. It?s not exactly a guilty pleasure, but I love a steaming black coffee when I?m finished. (Or an iced coffee in the summer).

Depending on who you ask, you should drink a chocolate milk after a long run. I read one article on it and that was good enough for me, now I have one after anything over about 6 miles

My guilty pleasure is either a chocolate chip muffin or chocolate chip pancakes. Either one is slathered in butter and washed down with plenty of coffee. Mmmm.

Re: What's your treat after a good run?
When I did my first marathon I had to fly there, and walking through the airport after we landed I smelled the Cinnabun place.....mmmmm Those are death served warm with a smile, but they sure as heck smell good. I promised myself that when I finished the marathon I would get one for the plane ride home, and wow did it taste good. Usually they are WAY to sweet and fattening, but I figured 26.2 miles worth of calories buned might just even me up with the Cinnabun.

Never again, but at the time....heaven

For a regular good run, I like the chocolate milk thing too

Lowfat chocolate milk might not be a bad treat after a run. Like you said, protein and carbs. Also, good source of calcium for the bones and teeth.

Me, I don't reward myself for a good run.

The grocery stores in NY won?t sell beer before noon on Sundays, which is when I like to be in Central Park. And I can?t very well bounce a bottle along with me for 5 miles. Too bad.

It's a Canadian chain, a coffee-doughnut-sandwich type of place -- like Dunkin' Donuts, but WAY better!

Mmmm, Timmy's.

This winter it is going to be a de-caf skim milk latte. I had one Sunday right after a 15 mile run. Well deserved!

Re: What's your treat after a good run?
Usually my only treat is the satisfaction of having enjoyed yet another run on this green planet.

If I do a long run on a gym treadmill, sometimes I get a small chocolate milkshake on the way home. I should just make a milkshake when I get home, but it's not the same... not as splurge-a-licious.
