Hottest and Coldest Run Ever!?

Okay, what is the hottest weather you have ever run in and the coldest you have ever run in?

Mine is -4 and 95.

Any thoughts?

Have fun!

Re: Hottest and Coldest Run Ever!?
hottest was this summer. August 1st, 97 degrees at race time which was at 6pm. 10 mile road race. 2nd hottest day of the year. I was a little off for a couple days after that.
coldest? hmmm. maybe 5 or 6 degrees. gets pretty cold in NH. but as someone here on Cool Running said " there is no bad weather, only bad clothes"

You?re right about that.

My coldest was a morning a couple of winters ago in Central Park - it was one or two degrees above zero and I felt great.

The hottest was also in Central Park; it was the Nike One Hit Wonder in July 2005. It was the year they gave out the red technical shirts, which seemed unusually heavy, and it was about 90 degrees and very humid. Many people were throwing up and collapsing along the course.

Re: Hottest and Coldest Run Ever!?
Warmest - about 85 or so

Coldest - about 5 degrees above zero.

I'd much rather run in the cold. The heat kills me.

Hottest -- around 105 this summer in AZ
Coldest -- -30 windchill in MN earlier this year. That was a cold long run and I was bundled up!

Re: Hottest and Coldest Run Ever!?
Coldest: -36 Fahrenheit when I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Warmest: 102 Fahrenheit with a heat index of 119.

I don't recommend either. But given my choice, I'll take the -36. I can put more layers on, but there comes a point where I can't take any more layers off (at least not in good taste).

Re: Hottest and Coldest Run Ever!?
Minnesota may be tops for variety. I once ran on a day my senior year of high school when the governor shut down every school in the state due to cold. I believe the air temp was around -20 with a windchill of at least -60. On the hot end I've ventured out at about 100. Neither of these run exceeded four miles.

Re: Hottest and Coldest Run Ever!?
Hottest: 108 F in Las Vegas... don't know the heat index, but it must have been another 10 degrees hotter since it was a lunch time run, and I couldn't find a single piece of shade. The sidewalk and the lamp posts were radiating heat... I had to stop my 4.5-miler with half-a-mile to go.

A close second in terms of heat was a later morning 9-miler Cancun... around 90 F, and humid. It was so heavy out there I felt like I was running under water.

Coldest: -31 F... a 10-miler in Montreal in blowing snow... don't know what the wind chill factor was. My hat, my face scarf, and my gloves were iced-over rigid.

I agree with EQ43... much easier to prepare for cold weather running.

Re: Hottest and Coldest Run Ever!?
did 13 in death valley at 126F once. but with the low humidity, it didn't feel too much hotter than about 115F....

haven't run much in cold recently (i wear gloves at 45F, how wimpy), but ran lots in my teens in single digits on squeeky snow.
