Re: what do you say?
After my co-workers, who thought I was in my early 30s, found out I was actually 45, they pretty much stopped bugging me about it.

Re: what do you say?
People who say that are either jealous or just recycling what they have heard. Running and Swimming in my opinion are they best individual sports in the world. I know cycling is fantastic but I don't know anything about it so I can't comment. Hey, I'm 38 and I still ride BMX on a dirt track. I'm crazy anyway.

Re: what do you say?
I have had an RN tell my mother that I would ruin my reproductive health and never be able to have children. Well, I had 3 children in three and a half years . I just smile and nod.

Re: what do you say?
oh please people that make such comments are the ones afraid of doing something so difficult as it is running. i have a lot of people that make really bad remarks because i am a very slow runner, i run a 11minutes mile, they don't understand what is it with me that i enjoy going so slow, the funny things is they don't run, i have a shirt that says " i know i run like a girl, but try to keep up"....

Re: what do you say?
I don't get how people can say something like exercise is bad for you when they, themselves, haven't experienced it. Sure, if you're just doing it for simple health benefits it could be better to walk. But, if you're doing it for more than just that then heck theres nothing against it. Either way, as long as your body is in good enough shape to handle the stress and it makes you happy, I'd say go for it.

Re: what do you say?
I think as a previous poster said, that they say that to feel better becuase they don't do anything. I had a guy who used to run 10km every other day tell me that walking is better than running, but I would say that is becuase he is trying to feel less guilty or whatever becuase he got lazy and stopped.

Re: what do you say?
I haven't had to deal with people saying "running is bad for you" but whenever I'm at my schools physical trainers room (which is every day, tight muscles u kno) I have to deal with the meat head football players saying "how do you get injured by just running?!" Running around them practicing for an hour and a half got them to stop asking.
