Re: What is your new year running goal(s)? NOT resolutions.
I believe resolutions are goals, so I'm having trouble coming up with goals in the new year that are not resolutions...

That, and most my running goals are top secret. Because my commitment levels and faith in myself are around rolling1977's.

I can say--- run the ING marathon, run the ATC's grand prix races, run Peachtree.
The rest are secret.

Re: What is your new year running goal(s)? NOT resolutions.
-Get more sleep--at least 8 hours a night (being a college student, it's hard sometimes).
-Eat healthier (I've really been overdoing the sweets--I can't just have one or two cookies--if I grab one, I end up eating ten)
-Nationals in indoor 5K with 17:25 or better
-Get up to and maintain around 75mpw
-Nationals again in the outdoor 10K, and place in top 8 for All-American (I did not do well at all in Nationals last year)
-Take better care of myself

sweetie, I had no idea you were such an accomplished runner. Good luck with your endeavors! I definitely hear you on the cookies...sometimes I eat very healthfully, and sometimes...I eat ten cookies (that would be why I can't lose weight even at 100 mpw)

The big goal for me is to run 2:28 at Boston. If I can manage that, I might have to consider the possibility of running 6 minutes faster on an easier course in the fall. The improvement curve has been so steep that it's not at all inconceivable. That's really the only goal driving my training for the next year. I'll go about it the way that's worked in the past...100 miles/week and sharpening workouuts when the big races get close...

Thanks ljwoodw, and good luck to you too in your marathons and Boston! 100mpw is a lot of dedication, and 2:28 is so impressive!

Re: What is your new year running goal(s)? NOT resolutions.
I will consider 2007 a COMPLETE success if I:

(1) establish a base of 60-80 mpw in Jan-Feb and run at least ONE 100 mile week in the year.

(2) incorporate REGULAR hill workouts into my schedule

(3) run the 3000m in 9:30 and mile in 4:45 @ the national masters indoor meet in March

(4) break through the 17:15-17:20 5k plateu I languished in this past fall and move into the 16:45 5k range in the spring and then sub-16:30 range in the fall

(5) run a sub-28 minute 5 miler in the Run to Remember in Boston in May

(6) qualify for the 1 mile and 800m finals in the Bay State Games in June by running a 4:45/2:10 or better

(7) start to compete at longer races, and enter at least two to three 5 milers in the spring and one to two 10Ks in the fall.

(8) successfully defend every road race I won in 2006

(9) re-run and WIN those races I finished 2nd-5th in 2006

Good luck to everyone on their goals for the year.

Re: What is your new year running goal(s)? NOT resolutions.
Those are some pretty amazing goals. Mine are much more modest.

- Run the Boston Remembers HM in May.

- Run Mount Washington in June (if I can get a number) and finish standing up.

- Run a full marathon in the fall; NYC if I can get a number, otherwise Cape Cod.

I've not done any of these things before, so for me these are extremely ambitious goals.

Re: What is your new year running goal(s)? NOT resolutions.
1st do the ocean plunge on new years day after the hangover classic 10K in Salisbury.

Then Hyannis marathon in February around 3:30 hopefully...under 3:10 (Boston Qualifying) I'd be ecstatic. (my 1st marathon)
a 50 miler in July (probably Fingerlakes)
and not get injured in the process.

Then I'll shoot for a sub- 30 minute 8K during XC season which should be more than do able.
