Looks like you're HM training is gonna make a great springboard for training for a full. Are you looking for specific training input?

There are a few options at this point. Firstly, there are tons of training schedules out there. Runner's World, Gallowy. Smart Coach, Pfitzinger (one of my favorites) and many others. I would browse some of them, find one that you feel is challenging yet attainable, modify it slightly to fit your life if need be and get ready for the experience of a lifetime.

Another option, the one I would recommend, would be do some self study. Get a book or two from some well respected runners and coaches. Talk to some experienced people in depth about training principals and design your own training program that will get you ready for your first marathon.

Re: Going from Half Marathon to Marathon
This was a timely post for me as well. I'll be doing my 2nd HM in a few wks and have worked myself up to doing a long run of about 15 miles. So, my hope was to use the winter to slowly and gradually add another 10 miles on to that in prep for a spring marathon. I appreciate the above post with the helpful tips and ideas. Thanks.

Re: Going from Half Marathon to Marathon
Very timely post! I'm at the same place as both of you. I'm running my second half marathon this Sunday in Boston. I've been happy with the HM training schedules on coolrunning.com.

I plan to do my first full marathon next fall, because I don't want to train through the New England winter (yes, I'm a wimp). I will most likely do the Marine Corps in DC or the Chicago Marathon. I liked Hal Higdon's marathon book. But, I can't put his advice to the test until I actually run that first marathon

Good luck!

Re: Going from Half Marathon to Marathon
i was hoping to go from HM training to full this fall,
but life won't let me. so hopefully i can maintain until springtime
and make another push. i've bagged 11 in 8 states and DC so far.
wanna try to get back but between school, family, work, a new to me house, and 'other' training, i fear that physical training will suffer.
good luck with yours and remember the training will pay off when you are enjoying yourself! it is the training that sucks...
