Re: All Clad vs. Calphalon
I am not a fan of calphalon. I find it too heavy and have a difficult time lifting the pans when they are full.

Re: All Clad vs. Calphalon
It goes without saying, but if you can wait until after Christmas to buy, you'll probably get better prices.

In fact, if you have a Tuesday Morning in town, I've seen brands like Calphalon and Le Creuset there! (It's a very hit-or-miss store and if you find something good, buy it b/c things go fast.)

Re: All Clad vs. Calphalon
They last forever and heat very well. I do not find them too heavy, that goes to Le creuset, as far as I am concerned. All my calphalons still look good after years of ownership. There are 4 different quality levels in Calphalon. I got the top quality.
My mom has Le Creuset. They certainly do not look good after long-term use. I have only used electric stoves. Calphalon does very well on my ceramic top.

Re: All Clad vs. Calphalon
I use Hackman. Itīs a Finnish brand; stainless steel and hard wearing. I find it so much easier to clean than calphalon (which I also have but leave it in the closet) and it just looks nicer. Creuset is ok, but I prefer the stainless.

Re: All Clad vs. Calphalon
last time i checked you couldnt run Cahpalon through the dishwasher. LIke others have said they are also very heavy.

We use mix of stainless that have a thick copper sandich between stainless on the bottom. I forget the brand but the line was called "belgique professional" over the years we picked up some nice quisinart pans at inexpensivly at marshalls department store.

I had the Cuisinart pans when I first moved out on my own and they lasted quite a while, were very good too.

I like All Clad and if I'm doing the cooking for you, you should get what I want

The problem with non-stick is you can't deglaze it to make a pan sauce after cooking the food. You'll need one of each, I've got my Le Creuset skillet which I've been rocking for close to 10 years now (it survived the HK years with my parents - so that's telling you something about the quality), and a Bowery Restaurant Shop Teflon pan.

Re: All Clad vs. Calphalon
I've never used Calphalon, but I have 1 Le Cruset piece (a large dutch oven) and a set of All Clad Stainless Steel, which I love. If I could buy them again, I would upgrade to the copper core ones, however.
