Would you rather live in a trailer or an apartment?

Around here when I run I get to see a large variety of housing, business, farming, etc. and today I wondered this question to myself. I started my run in town and ran into the mountains(if you can really call them that) and made a loop back into town. On this run I passed a trailer park outside of town and I also passed a lot of houses with "Apartment for rent" signs on them closer to and in town. This is not a "let's be d*cks to people who live in trailers" thread but I wondered why you would want to live in a trailer park when you could just as cheaply live in a nice apartment inside of town and closer to where you need to be. You either need to buy a trailer and then rent a lot or rent a trailer then rent the lot. This gets to be expensive. Heating and cooling also becomes a HUGE issue in poorly insulated trailers. I know not everyone can live in an apartment but with so many open apartments it's odd that people chose to live in a trailer. The weirdest part for me is it is a nice town and the rent is (relatively) cheap. My question for you is with all this taken into account would you rather live in a trailer or in an apartment?

Personally I wouldn't be able to afford(on budget anyways) to live in a trailer park but I live comfortably in an apartment.

That is a good question. Is is not possible to own the lot, and the trailer, though? I suppose I might actually pick a trailer, you could have your own yard, you can be almost as loud as you want, you can paint whatever you want... I lived in appartments and it was nice, but in the end I couldn't paint the walls, I didn't have a yard, I had to hear the neighbors next door, I could only park in certain spots and all that hooey.

I think it depends on how much privacy is involved.

I wouldn't dare live in a trailer park, because I don't like being that close to neighbors....I also wouldn't enjoy an apartment for the same reason, although the bonus of being in town is nice.

I'd chose the trailer on my own piece of land...with nothing but woods around. Oh wait, I did.

There are some nice, cozy trailers out there. I would live in one if I owned a nice piece of land. I would prefer that over an apartment. I wouldn't want to live in a trailer park, though.

I think that trailers in trailer parks are very often rented to people who have bad credit and can't get an apartment rental.

Re: Would you rather live in a trailer or an apartment?
yup, I'd probably go for the apartment too... perhaps the top floor in the corner -if possible- so I could be the noisy one

I've never even looked at prices for a trailer park, so wouldn't know the comparison.

We decided to spend the majority of our money on land and a smallish amount on the house since it can be upgraded easier.

Apartment. There is a stigma against trailer parks.

There is a certain amount of social stigma involved in living in a trailer that doesn't come with living in an apartment.

oh, that's simple then...you don't have to listen to the upstairs neighbors or the neighbors with a common wall when they are bumping uglies....

Re: Would you rather live in a trailer or an apartment?
I've considered renting a trailer that's out by itself on a nice couple acres of rural property, and I may still do so. It has a large, grassy yard bordered by forest. I'd greatly prefer that to living in a crowded apartment complex.

But, no, I wouldn't live in the local trailer park, mainly because there's a lot of junk in people's yards, they haven't kept their trailers nice, and the whole place is generally dirty and too close together.
