Re: Monday, August 6th.
Now that I'm forced to work again...teachers went back today...my reports will have to wait until evening

3500 y swim...did well (for me).

500 warm-up

2500 of things sheldon told me to do

500 choice cooldown.

I still can't swim a straight line in the backstroke.

I think you'll find that, unlike the CW or Basic Training forums, the daily thread here is more like the Boomers thread - a place for everyone to check in, talk briefly about what's going on in their life today, and give it a slant toward training that others in their life would not understand.

I agree, though, that a weekly or monthly thread would show progress better. Like Thor says, start one up. If it's helpful, it will take off.

Re: Monday, August 6th.
Got a surprise for what was supposed to be my nice easy 4x500 swim workout. The pool was configured for LCM for an upcoming meet vice the usual SCY...and in talking with one of the women I know who works there, it was probably a bit longer than 50m because they "just kind of put the bulkhead wherever" today. In any event it was an interesting experience, and probably one that helped since it meant more uninterrupted swimming.

Re: Monday, August 6th.
4.6mi evening slog around the Charles River. I could have swam the path it was so humid. No exaggeration but I was sweating so hard it was like someone was dumping water over my head. I hate how it slows me down and how it's impossible to do any kind of tempo run when it's like this. It's still much better than snow though. Much better!

Thor: Yesterday was the first time I enjoyed OW swimming and it didn't freak me out. I don't know why. I want to capture and keep that feeling for the next couple of weeks.

Thor x 2: I miss the monthly totals thread and the monthly goals thread. I had thought at the end of July to start one but never got around to it.

Reg: There's a secret to keeping the deerflies off. Deerflies go for the head so just get some of the family-style Off in the pump spray and spray your hair and/or hat, you ears, the back of your neck and your shoulders. They'll still buzz you but won't attack.

All: Great workouts. Try to keep it cool.

Re: Monday, August 6th.
Rest day for me after my tri yesterday. I'm glad it was a rest day because I got a terrible migraine this evening and was throwing up!! Yikes! I don't know what the deal was. I have had 2 other migraines in my life, but it has been a couple years. I hope that doesn't happen again! I'll be back to the grind tomorrow since I have exactly 4 weeks until my first Oly!

Re: Monday, August 6th.
melonella - I would LOVE to swim in a pool configured for long course!

Weights for me tonight. Including one new (to me) trick that should help increase power from hip rotation for swimming. Standing barbell roman twist anyone?? I'm guessing it will also make it really tough (painful, but in the good way) to rollover and hit "snooze" in the morning. Win/win.
