Monday 8/13.

I tried something new that I found in the latest edition of "Triathlon Life" for those wanting to practice OW techniques with no place to OW swims. Basically, during my intervals, when I got to the end, I would just turn around and brush my fingers on the wall and continue without pusing off. Kind of made it like going around a buoy. I like this and will probably make it a regular part of my workouts. I highly recommend this to anyone in the same situation as I am. Anyway, 2500yd swim this morning:

500 warmup,
500 drills,
10x100 on :20 rest without pusing off (1:32.89 avg),
500 cooldown.

Great workouts to all!!

Oh the willpower it must have taken to keep from pushing off the wall.

For me, 4 mile hilly trail run this morning. 75* and humid, but nice in the shade. Finished with stretching and core work on my back deck watching Momma deer grazing in my back yard. Her two fawns were grazing safely on the other side of the fence.

Easy swim drills for me tonight. Easy in terms of effort level, that is. Might try the finger-brushing thing instead of pushing off, but then again...I'm with Boggs. What kind of willpower would be required for that?? Wow.

Happy Monday everyone (said with a grain of sarcasm). Short week for me, though. Exciting stuff coming up, will post a report before the end of the week.

Re: Monday 8/13.
You will all be proud of me! Today I spent 90 minutes sitting on the floor of my LBS with my bike guy (one who sold me the bike, he's the best) showing me how to change a tire. I did it myself 3 times! Took the front wheel off and changed it....took the back wheel off and changed it (twice) then put it back on! I can't tell you the absolute relief I feel KNOWING that I can now change a tire if I get a flat at Timberman......................YIPPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe a swim later if I can squeeze it into my schedule.

Happy Monday peeps!

Re: Monday 8/13.
Rolling back around to the work week after a magnificent weekend in which I think I drank more beers than miles run, and considering I had 26.2 miles, you can imagine I'm a bit sore and sluggish today.

Great soccer match last night. The buzz was undeniable Beckham has stirred something good, even though he didn't get a minute due to injury. After the final whistle blew to end the match, my oldest nephew, forever the little sneak, climbed down a few rows and got way up front where Mr. David "The Savior" Beckham was starting to sign autographs. A few minutes later, out the little bugger came with an autographed ticket. He was happy. His uncle was stoked!

Lot great workouts over the weekend, folks, especially those race-sim bricks. Keep up the good work.

Thanks also for the kudos yesterday!

Me...

3 mile recovery run to the park and back. Legs felt sluggish but had pace in them if I wanted. I didn't want. Instead I did a few "butt kicks" to loosen them up and get them moving faster.

Rest day.

And good day, Tri-berries!

Re: Monday 8/13.
After hard workout weekend, decided to ride in the short way today -

So - 10+ ride in @ 19.5 or so

21+ mile lunch ride@ 18.8

10+ ride home easy.

42+ for day....

All in all, feel pretty good except no improvements in swimming. Maybe time to go chase up a wetsuit!

Great day all -

Shout-outs to Julie for flat-changing proficiency, and Thor for his continued marathon a month quest (and then some). Nice to know that Mr. Beckham can sign it, as well as bend it.

Reg.

Julie - If you come across me on the Timberman course, will you change my tire?

45min easy spin on the stationary bike at lunch for me. 9 holes of golf tonight. Going easy this week...

Rest day for me. Unlike some of you other overachievers, I have no issues whatsoever with rest days. I actually rather enjoy them!

Have a great week everyone!

Re: Monday 8/13.
60 mins on the trainer for me today - was due to do a 2 hr ride but DS6 wasnt able to go to the schools summer activity day today due to illness so I ended up on the trainer instead - but better than nothing -

He actually made me bring the trainer indoors and watch a couple of episodes of Dr Who with him while I span -

Thor V jealous of your nephews Autograph - although I did get to see Beckham play a few years ago when Man Utd visited Arsenal it ended up 1-1 so all went home happy (or dissapointed depending on your point of view)

Have a good week guys

Great workouts tri peeps! I must admit-I'll try the finger thing.

I've grown a fondness for flippies and push-offs.

3500 Super Secret Sheldon Swim. I had way too much kick and no a$$ grabbing this workout. Bleh.

3.5ish miles. Running naked. Well, polar wasn't working, does that not count? 42 minutes. Easy run, didn't feel so easy. First run since Steelhead.

I'm going to be posting less, but I'll still be around. Working is just killing me now and I need to regain some balance and right now, work is out of balance.

So if anyone needs me and I don't respond, please feel free and backchannel.

Will try to at least get workout postings up!

Re: Monday 8/13.
Mike, that's a great idea about the pool. I am going to try that on Wednesday.

Julie, congrats on the tire changing! That's got to be a load off your mind. I just ordered some fix-a-flat like stuff for my own peace of mind. Some more puncture-proof tires are also going to be on the menu after I ruin the cheapo ones that came with my bike on the trainer this winter.

Thor, you are just amazing with your 'round the lake eight time marathon. Your support crew was even more amazing. I expect an invite for a leg or two for next year's 2nd running. And, isn't it nice when a football game at Gillette attracts 35K people and it's not the Pats playing but the Revs?!?!

Me, 3.8mi RUN down along the Charles River. Yes, not a slog but a run. What a beautiful evening! It was cool with just a touch of humidity. It was so nice to be able to run and enjoy it. I love summer. It's my favorite time of year. However, I am looking forward to some nice fall running and riding.

I also got my bike fixed up at the LBS and had them do another fitting. They swapped out my stem for one a cm shorter and they raised my set a cm. Wow. What a difference. I am going to take it for a shakedown ride tomorrow. If I flat, the tires go in the trash.

Good night tri-peeps.

Re: Monday 8/13.
I did a really short 3 mile run this morning. I got out at 6:00 (I'm NOT a morning person, so this was hard). It was dark, then about 5 mins. into my run, it started pouring. WTH?? Luckily, I run right past the gym, so I ducked in and ran 2.2 miles on the TM then ran back home when the rain let up. I hate the TM. How did I run on it for months and months?

I've been doing some sort of core work every night before bed (crunches, leg lifts, twists, whatever) I hope this will help, as I have slacked in that area lately.

Goodnight!

Kelli

Yay Julie! Way to tame the flat monster!

Functional strength training for me tonight. I think tomorrow will be the day to steal away for a little mid-week OW.
