Birthdays, staple removals, new bikes, vacations at the lake... always exciting around here, in addition to the workouts!

Track workout this morning. Very, very slow. My legs were dead, dead, dead.
15-min warm up
3x800 (3:36, 3:30, 3:26)
2x400 (1:38, 1:40)
10-min cool down

Then, 2550-meter swim with Kathy late afternoon.
500 warm up
10x100 on 2:00
10x50 kick
6x75 pull
100 cool down

That's it for me. Working late and then a long weekend. Enjoy it everyone!!

You explode, I'll snap in half. Wait! I think I meant the other way. Dazed and confused, I thought, WWTD?, What Would Tithers Do? Although I kept coming up with 'Go get an aisle five product,' I knew Tithers, our very own T-Girl, would rather snap in half, or maybe **** on a stick. To each her own.

First of all, Happy B-day, Julie! I am about 4month behind you.
As for the road vs. tri bike, the rides weren't a real apple-to-apple comparison, and I am hesitant to post the differences and give you a false sense of what a tri bike might do (but of course you can use this for persuading your DH ). Readouts from the computers are: 15.8mph vs. 17.8mph. I rode BQ for 20 minutes (kind of warm up) then rode QR for another 20 minutes the same out-back route but a little farther. Obviously I was ready to ride harder on QR; unfortunately I wasn't wearing HRM. Both times I did stop for a light or two. I was able to ride much faster where wind was a factor (both against and with) thanks to an aero position, I think. I do have a set of snap-on aero on my BQ, but very different from tri bike aero. Even on a slight incline, I stayed on an aero and my body seemed to be in much forward position to create more power. It might be all in my head . I would have gone longer if my headache and neck stiffness had left me alone. I will do a longer ride once it is fit properly.

What did you name your tri-bike?

Reg - Kaze might be too much for my speed. Also that could mean 'cold' (illness).

Julie: happy b-day!

CCRoz: happy staple removal day!

Me: 4.1mi run. Summer is holding on the best it can. I finally did today what is a rite of passage for anyone who has a laptop. I spilled an entire cup of coffee into mine this morning and fried it. I think they're gonna be p*ssed at work on Monday. Luckily I have automatic daily backups of the laptop so nothing should be lost.

Good luck to all the racers this weekend.

Tithers, better it was the lady next you than the one in front of you.

4.6 mile run for me. Did the hilly loop for the first time in a while. My favorite part about climbing hills is the the free-speed on the down side. I guess, for me, the "up side" is the "down side" and the "down side" is the "up side."

While my last post was "processing," I was looking at the title of the thread, and suddenly heard the Sesame Street song, "one of these things is not like the other" and started trying to figure out which one didn't belong. At first blush, Reagan would be the easy call since the others are all sports-related. But I'm going with Ben Johnson, because the steroid use makes him a bit of a loser, while the were winners in their chosen fields.

Great minds think alike. At least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it, because I too thought the exact same thing. Really.
