Timberman questions

1. Does anybody know about when does Timberman sell out? When was it sold out for this year?

2. Can anyone point me to a good HIM training plan?

Thanks,
Chris

#1: Somebody else will have to answer that one.
#2: I used The Perfect Distance by Tom Rodgers with great success. This is a very good book.

Oooh...Chris are you thinking of doing it?????????? Goodie! I'll get to meet another virtual buddy!

Last year I think the HIM sold out in Jan......on the first day 700+ people registered....it is a VERY popular race (with good reason), attracts a lot of pros and has spots for the 70.3IM Championship thingy (that Thor's doing), so lots of people want to do it.

I can't say enough about what a GREAT experience it was...also I liked the timing of it, you have all season to ride outside.....

As for training plans, I hired CS, so followed his plan.

I started Feb....did a Half Mary in Apr & May, did an Oly in Jun........June and July were peak months.....did 3:00, 3:30, 3:00 rides in June, then July was 3:30, 4:00, 4:00 rides....so count on (8) 3-4 hour rides. Brick runs were 35 minutes....that's it. Longest runs were 1:45-2:00

Julie, thanks for the answers. You have everything time-based, not distance-based? Don't you have time-bases for the swim too? The 3000y swim would be 3 hours for me, probably....
Who's CS and how much is that?
<HR>

I'm guessing that's "Coach Sheldon" (as opposed to CC - Coach Carole)

Chris, you'll LOVE Timberman, but know that although it is truly a world class event, it also can be crowded, which is both good and bad depending on your liking. Regardless, it is truly an amazing event. Know also that the course is tough, though most half Iron distance races in the northeast are indeed tough.

If you want to do Timberman, sign up the second registration opens. That obviously means you'll have to commit perhaps well before you are ready to make a decision. But if you want it, don't fret, just sign up. The fear of the distance will carry forth and motivate you to do everything you need to get yourself ready.

Yes, you will LOVE Timberman. Also know that if you do sign up, try to land housing fairly quickly.

Registration starts a month earlier this year (Oct 1) so I would expect it to sell out earlier this time.

Eagleman Ironman 70.3 opened for registration on the beginning of this month for a June '08 race. It's already sold out. The big 70.3s are getting more and more popular, so I wouldn't wait too long after Oct to decide.
