Wed Sept 5th....Ford survives Manson!

September 5th, 1975
In Sacramento, US President Gerald Ford survives an assassination attempt by Lynette Fromme - a follower of the jailed cult leader Charles Manson.

I cannot believe it's almost lunch and no one started the thread!

Gorgeous day in NE.....absolutely beautiful 22 mile ride this morning....hoping for yoga later, but it's such a busy day, doubtful it will fit in.

Survive Manson all!

Still Morning on the west coast. Got in 30 mins of TI swim drills. They were much better today than last time i tried them. I went out and bought some goggles and tri shorts before todays workout. I think they helped me find my balance and sweet spot alot easier.Plus the goggles really made a difference.I didn't mind sticking my face in the water.
spent another 15 mins in the hot tub having the jets massage my sore ankle and then 15 in the sauna to help dry off.
I am taking my bike into the LBS to get the pedal fixed and to get that tool tithers told me about. Then if everything goes right i can get out on the bike for an hour.

Re: Wed Sept 5th....Ford survives Manson!
Easy 7m run for me this morning. Got up early, cool 60' and got to see a beautiful sunrise. New route. Took my usual route, cut through a school parking lot, then into the neighborhood where the race was on Monday. Very, very enjoyable run! Can't wait to do this one again.

I'm starting with a new coach this week. After working with a coach for a year and a half, it's difficult to change. Former coach was in a serious bicycle accident in June and was having trouble keeping up with everything. So, it was time for me to move on so he would have time to coach his Olympic athletes. But, new coach is much closer so we'll be able to work one-on-one as opposed to just on-line.

All Summer weather here in the Midwest so I decide indoor workout....Went core-eliptical-treadmill speed....The speed part feels good right now but I need to add the distance...Total workout of about 1 hour....Lots of running around town for kids these weeks...Tiresome but fun to watch young athletes...Yesterday I saw some raw young 6th grade boys soccer..The St. Michael Trojans went down in flames..Only second regular season loss in 3 years..Basketball starts Sunday..That is my coaching start again...It's all good Tri-peeps...BuckeyeBoy

Re: Wed Sept 5th....Ford survives Manson!
I did some weight training today! I haven't been to the gym all summer, and my log showed no weights since mid-May (though I do core exercises regularly without logging). Yikes! I worked core and arms, and surprisingly, I was able to pick up where I left off in May! Woo Hoo! I was going to get my body fat tested, but the female trainer had just left, and the manager couldn't find the instrument to test me (he doesn't do calipers on women for obvious reasons). So, I'll try again Friday.

Anyway, 40 mins. of weights and 20 mins. on the elliptical, level 9. That was enough for me today. I hope to run again today or tomorrow, then I'm going on a bike ride in the hill country this weekend at my in-laws' ranch!

Re: Wed Sept 5th....Ford survives Manson!
Fantastic day here in New England, even if Mr. Manson tried to ruin it back on this day in 1975 (see daily history), that selfish ***. Selfish greed is the only thing I can think of that would propel one person to attempt to take the life of another. Life isn't a right. It just is. And here you have a driven lunatic thinking he has the right to do something about it.

Busy day for me. Apologies on the limited banter.

Me...

4 mile run early this AM. Woke up to my radio alarm clock at the normal early hour. First thing I heard was the weatherman say that the temperature was in the 40's in the suburbs. Already with frozen toes because I left the windown open over night, I ditched my morning ride because I didn't want to break out the tights and warmer gear just yet when I knew I could ride at the noon hour. So I slept in an extra hour and a half.

18 mile solo ride at noon. Did the Figure-8 Loop, just about the only loop I know my time for. Hadn't done it in a while. Wound up doing it on the top end of my quickness scale for that route. Happy about that in spite the wind and not feeling strong in the legs. Body's been beat since the weekend. Think it was that air mattress.

Great day, Tri-spokes!

Sigh....3.5 mile spin. Yup, only 3.5 miles. Got a flat, changed the tube, a kind cyclist help me get the last few inches of bead back on the rim saving my thumbs from a nasty blistery mess (they're still tender), then accidentally discharged my CO2 cartridge. Forgot to carry an extra and I don't carry a regular pump. Had to get back to work so called BrewDad to run SAG. As long as it happens in training and not on race day, right? What doesn't kill me only makes me stronger.

Ultimate frisbee tonight. That's it for me. Beautiful here today too, but so far I'm only getting to enjoy it from my office window. At least it opens, and the breeze can blow papers around on my desk.

Next time... Just go a little slower and think about changing the oil in your car or something. If it continues, see your doctor.

3-mile recovery run along the river at lunchtime, swim class tonight. Getting a little tired, might have to sneak a rest day in somewhere.

Sorry can't chat, work work work. When it rains it pours.

Re: Wed Sept 5th....Ford survives Manson!
Ok...Sheldon revised my swim in the middle of the day to 3900...BUT rockstar that I am...I did 4000! Bada$$!

Ok...so-new 400 split record for me...7:07...slow for some, but less than a year ago it took me 11:30 trying hard to do that!

Took super secret speed test. Waiting for sheldon to calculate.

My time for the 4000 (included breast and back during w/u and cooldown...and breaks b/w parts...minute here and there...10 seconds, 30 seconds-you know the drill...

Total: 1:25:35. I'm ready...I think. Shizzle...knock on something!
