I'm still resting this week, so I did weight training (legs) and 30 mins. on the elliptical. I'll be riding this weekend, then I'll hit the running again next week. It's been great to rest some. I hope it starts to cool down some. I think we might actually see fall a little earlier this year (which means before Halloween!).

Welcome to the daily thread Abbster. Our daughter's (age 7) name is Abigail, too, though we went with "Abby" as the short version.

quote:
Matt: Alpaca breeders? Do tell. I never knew you did fiber on the side or is it for something else?

Do fiber? Moi? Mais non! Long ago one of our clients started breeding the critters, then referred his fellow breeders to us, and so on and so on until today alpaca breeders constitute a significant portion of my client base. So once a year or so they ask me to come out and tell the newbies about taxes and accounting. It's usually good for one or two new clients, so it's worth the effort for me.

I do actually know a fair amount about the animals, as I've visited quite a few farms. If you're into fiber, I'm your connection.

Speaking of fiber, I'm wearing a new pair of bamboo-fiber socks today. Wow! Have you guys checked this stuff out? Easily as soft as alpaca. Wild.

Summer weather is back... en force!

Abbster: Welcome aboard the good ship "Making it Happen!" <-- had to throw that in there, just for the heck of it!

T-Girl: Your priorities are still crossed. As for play mates (but not the hooter kind), you might be surprised at some of the people near you who'd be interested in doing a group workout. The hard part is finding them. The easy part is getting them together. Look around. Maybe post a message. It helps. Trust me.

Neil: I miss rugby. I haven't seen much at all since a few years ago when Fox Sports Channel sold out to Fox Soccer Channel. Good thing is that I get more footie action. Bad thing is no rugby. I'll be pulling for whatever result is favorable for your true Green.

Me...

11 mile early this AM with LRR, SammyK, and The Diesel. Fun. Humid. Hammer last two miles home.

20 mile Super Secret Clearwater Jamfest at noon on the bike. Averaged 22.5+ mph with lots of gradual up hills going into a steady head wind. Not so much fun. Going back the other way was fun. Legs fried.

Don't forget your roots, Tri-Holleys!

Bike commute day - 17+ in (low 19s), 19+ at lunch along beach - sweltering - about 18, 10+ home - TBD, so 46+ total for the day.

Definitely time to replace chain and cassette - lots o' skip, and tires starting to look a little threadbare! It'll be a severe wrestling match with the rims tonight... Hopefully the trusty Bianchi will be all better in a week or so...

Bad workout week (like - taper 2 weeks too early) ...

Welcom Abbie, and good luck on your race!

Reg.

Put my orthotics back in and wider shoes. Chris

Well, I am only a fan by association. My sister is in grad school there. I am actually from Michigan, but I have always hated UM because I am a big MSU fan. So the fact that my sis decided on OSU for grad school worked out very well for me.

I got a steroid shot in June and it did help me, but it's getting a bit worse again. I moved the cleats on my spinning shoes and that seemed to help. I am trying to find some cute everyday shoes that don't aggravate MN or PF. It sucks!! I think I am getting another injection on Monday. Dr. told me that it might take several injections to see a whole lot of improvement.

Yikes...too many Buckeye fans showing up! Michigan alum here. Last week...well, I'll be happy if we don't go 0-4. Oregon plays the same offense as App St. which we've demonstrated we can't stop and play better defense. I do want to give Abbie a hearty welcome despite her unfortunate choice of Big 10 schools.

TGIF!

Thanks for the welcome! I went to Alma College - have you heard of it? I was really close to going to MSU, but I decided on the small school.

Yay - I have found people I can talk football with. This thread is awesome.

Thank you all for the wonderful welcome!!

Thor I dont know if you will get to see it but tomorrow England (current World Champions) play the US Eagles (its at 5.00pm British Time )

Big weekend of sport with the rugby and all the soccer internationals - Am I right that the USA are playing Brazil at the home of the Revs - if so do I assume that you are going --If so - very very jealous

LRR - where is the VR?

Hill repeats on TM due to iffy weather (didn't want a brand-new pair of shoes to get dirty). 3 min x 5 (+7%) with 2min recovery (-3%). Thought it was tough, you can't cheat on TM, and know exact pace/incline, which is nice. Picked 7% out of nowhere, but I wonder which would better suit the purpose of today's training (VO2 max - for HM), 7% at pretty slow pace (but HR reached to the 95%+ of VO2 max) or at a lower grade at much faste pace. or does it even matter.

Fun stuff:

I think the US Eagles are out of Boston. I have to check.

You are very right that US is playing Brazil in a friendly, but it's not at Gillette, home of the Revs. Too bad. The match that IS at Gillette is Mexico-Brazil mid next week. I will not attend. Too expensive. Would love to attend but need to watch money someplace. As for the US-Brazil friendly, I'm very excited to see how we can fair against a stacked Brazil squad (Brazil is bringing the full squad). But I will have to somehow sneak out of a family shindig on the fiance's side of the family. Lovely.

Still rooting for whatever favors the Luck of the Irish.

Hey all,
And Welcome Abbie!

I've been even more sore and achy the past few days, than before. PT is going well, but I hurt more after those sessions than I did before. My neck and shoulders really hurt. Sleeping has been a hit-or-miss proposition. This changing weather is giving me bad sinus headaches on top of my "normal" post-accident headaches. Bleh. I am just a bundle of joy, eh?

Mojo to all racers, especially Hobey, and our IMMoo folks. Have fun you guys!

Abbie--WELCOME!!! Great to have another Buckeye fan on board! I didn't go to OSU, but hubby did. I'm more of a football fan than he is. Last weekend one of the kids and I rode down around the 'Shoe, just in time for the fourth quarter--as fans were emptying the stadium...

Not sure if you would consider it a 'workout', but I spent the evening getting all six bikes ready for the tour on Sunday. We leave in the morning. I started with son #4's bike. Only to discover he had a flat. And you can't use standard tire irons on a dinky 'mountain' bike... Rest of the bikes went okay. Until I got to Ruby. Hubby has been doing woodwork in the garage. Poor Ruby was covered in sawdust! Considering I'll be seeing the guys I started riding with back in '82 and possibly meeting my new coach, I thought it woudl be good for her to be looking her best!

Welcome Abbie!

I'm still sidelined with the messed up neck. The good news is that I'm beginning to see a little improvement in range of motion as an aftereffect of some focused DT work yesterday. (This basically means I actually have some ROM, not a lot, but any is an improvement.) I'm hoping a comfortable position to sleep in will be another bonus.

I can tell the neck's beginning to get a little better since its the first day I've looked jealously at cyclists passing by. Of course, yesterday, I couldn't have turned my head at all to see them, so they might've been there. I just wouldn't have known.

Great workouts all!
