Congratulations on a great race!!!

I have a general Ironman question for you or anyone: how the heck do you get entered into the race???? I read on the IronmanWisconsin website, that current (2007) racers could sign up for 2008 on the day before the race, and that general registration would open the day after the race, and on Active.com. I monitored Active.com hourly, the day after the race, and it went from "not open" to "full". The website also says you must sign up for yourself only. Does this mean everyone who wanted to do IMWis 2008 had to have registered on-site??? If I had known that, I could have taken the day off as vacation to go and register. I would guess that if it really fills up with no on-line entries, that there are people who stand in line and also don't get to enter....

The only Ironman race (except for Florida which has yet to run 2007 race) that is not filled up for 2008 is Louisville. I really hate to think about going there and swimming in the Ohio river for my first IM, especially when I live 35 miles from Madison, WI.

Any words of wisdom? Thanks!

Thanks for the advice, but the Community Fund route means I'd be paying $1000 just for entry. That's a little steep for me. I guess I'll wait until next year and just get in line at 4AM the day after.

Congrats on an awesome race!! Also congrats for being so mature and being able to take on such a huge task at such a young age. I did my first at 26 and I was still one of the youngest around. You will hear most people say they wish they would have started the whole thing years ago...safe to say you did!

Simply ... WOW. Congratulations on such an incredible first IM. You have guts at your young age to dream this dream and actually make it happen. I am thoroughly impressed.

Can't wait to hear about your other races and endeavours ...

Sally

excellent freshman IM
oh wait, excellent IM PERIOD!

6/21 is freakin' awesome. So much can go weird in an IM and it sounds like you just nailed it. Give the bike some time, IMOO is one of the harder ones out there. I've ridden the course many times and it's a real leg shredder.

congrats!
