Monday workouts...9/17...on this day...

...I have NO CLUE what happened in history, so someone please fill us in!

Ok-SSSW...3500-about killed me. Mondays are usually enjoyable. 3rd day in a row waking up BEFORE 5AM. Jeebus.

100 splits-
fastest-1:42
slowest-1:47
average-1:45
YAY! These were a good effort, but not all out!

That was followed by 50 fast/slow...a bunch of those too.
Those splits were 49/50s. A little slower than I woulda liked, but I was tired.

Anyhoo-happy training.

RECOVERY WEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

The Constitution of the United States of America is signed by 38 of 41 delegates present at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Supporters of the document waged a hard-won battle to win ratification by the necessary nine out of 13 U.S. states.

This day in history OJ simpson was arrested..Again..These charges hopefully will stick.....As for me, nice weekend..Feeling tired but managed a 20 mile bike Tour of the countryside in a charity event that my neighbor set up...Brought middle son who did 20 miles on his old mountain bike..He really pedaled through some tough condition esepcially seeing me cruise on my Trek....Proud of him....Yesterday did sweat run of 5 miles...Lots of partying at event and watching Buckeye game...Not a good run...Going to take it easy on the partying..Tired of feeling somewhat crappy on runs....Today stretch...Hot tub..Usual.....Good day all...Congrats to all racers...BuckeyeBoy

But, but, that was OJ's stuff!!! So what if he entered with force and used a gun???

Buckeye--great job with your son! It's probably too late this season, but there's a great route that I do with my kids. Park at the ball diamond at Bellepoint. Follow Klondike/Warren Rd/River Rd along the river. There is a series of 'challenging rollers' in the first 5m or so. At one point you will see 'no parking' and 'endangered species nesting area' signs. There's a bald eagle nest, and frequently you can see them in the trees or soaring. Anyway, it's a straight shot--couple dog legs--up to Prospect. Take a left into town, a right at the VFW, up a couple blocks to an ice cream place. They have great ice cream. The small cone is plenty big! Oh, but they will charge you $1.25 to fill your water bottle... There's a BP in the center of town where, if you can stomach the condition of the rest room, you can fill 'em for free! Round trip is about 32m.

Rest day for me following yesterday's brick. I had to resist the urge to run this morning... Taper week for me, as my first tri is on Sunday!

Rest day for me, too, first of three. Did my last tri of the season yesterday, finished 6th in a field of 90 or so. Race report later.

Make your own history Peeps!

Good job Matt.

Easy day for me today PT tonight followed by a 3 mile run.

Yesterday I got Back In The Saddle for the first time since August 19th. 18 mile ride, including one of my two very hilly routes. I literally had to trick my mind into doing the route, and then I had to make myself do the one particularly hilly 2.5 mile stretch twice, because the first time, I was literally riding the brakes the entire time, and I was sweating much more profusely from nerves than the 35 degree weather warranted. I had to give myself a stern talking to about hills, and about the fact that if I've done this route once, I've done it 100 times. So the second time was a bit easier. I was still a bit "grabby" and my heart was pounding worse than the effort warranted, but it was better. And I did it.

Other than the hills, I was very happy to be back on the bike, and happy to be riding on a gorgeous, if chilly morning. I followed the bike with an easy 2.5 mile run, but then paid for all the good happiness with neck, shoulder and head pain.

21 mile beach ride at lunch - windy (though with a tailwind, hit a nice 30 mph on the flats).

As the bike guy put it when I took the bike in, "It looks like your bike fared better than you did." To which I replied, "You think this is bad? You should have seen me a couple of weeks ago."

My Aerowolf just had a bent deraillieur, and the right aerobar and pad had to be re-set. He also put new shiny handlebar tape on for me. Also, the front and rear wheels both had to be trued. The rear wheel had a visible bend to it. The saddle is torn in a couple of places too, and my aerowolf is a little scratched up now, but I'll leave those war wounds. I actually took the bike in a while ago, but with work, family, doctors appointments and such, I couldn't get back to the LBS until Saturday. That was ok, really. I wasn't allowed to ride until then anyway, and we all know I probably would have if I had bike access.

Rest day....finishing up my rest week. Did a small 6 mile run over the weekend but mostly spent it hanging with my friends who were visiting. Took our kids to the zoo, caught the UM-ND game, shopped, and went wine tasting. Good times.

Beginning my peak for my October HM tomorrow.

It's Monday. Bleh!

Charlotte, sounds like your recovery is going well!

8 miles on a gorgeous day. Calf is a little sore but little sign of pain during a run. During a peak period of half/full marathon training, I always feel, 'running is not necessarily getting easier but I am getting faster'. It looks like my training will be cut short and I will run Towpath marathon in Buckeye state on 10/7. Has anybody run that before? The reason? DH is seriously considering to run a full marathon (O.M.G.) and he wants me to run the last half with him on 10/21 (yes, Detroit). I didn't want to run 13 miles a week before my half (original plan; Grand Rapids on 10/27). I couldn' find any half nearby wk before 10/21. So it looks like 10/7 is it and I have 3 weeks to go. If for some reasons I have to push it further down, then Indy or Elyria in Nov. I just love this last-minute (not quite last minute, but for someone who likes 'plan' and 'schedule', it is!) change

Then, 30 minutes strengthening workout
