Fall Race Plans?

What do you have planned? Off season, races, other hobbies?

Bob: All questions but no answers?

I've got a HM in two weeks to "officially" end my season for this year then it's about two months of unfocused workouts until I need to start my build for Alcatraz next year. A few fun runs during the holidays, some hiking here and there, and whiling away stormy afternoons with a good book or some knitting.

Re: Fall Race Plans?
TowPath half marathon on Sunday.

Hopefully Tucson Marathon in December. Destination race to visit my parents and will depend on how mom is doing.

If not Tucson, possibly Sedona half marathon in February.

There are several 'budget' races over the winter that I'll probably do.

Other than that, lots of time in the fish bowl. Lots of time sitting on the bike going nowhere.

Hobbies... hobbies... Anyone have a dictionary handy???

Re: Fall Race Plans?
Right now I'm training for the Las Vegas HM on 12/2 to do while on a visit to my sisters. Also trying to enjoy some bike rides and the glorious fall weather!

I also found a couple of 10k races that interest me, closer to home. One is 11/10 and one 12/15.

Other than that, looking forward to SKI season! And of course, snowshoeing too. I'll keep running but probably won't race again til around March or April. And I'll probably be swimming a couple times a week through the winter as well. I play tennis indoors a few times a month in the winter as well, but would rather be outdoors!

Re: Fall Race Plans?
Our local running club has an annual series of four XC type races. The first was last Sunday, then they're every other week. There are also a couple local 5Ks this month, then an HM in early December. Our local tri club will be doing a hash in early November. Then somewhere during all that ski season starts.

Re: Fall Race Plans?
Supersprint tri next weekend (my first tri(y) )
Pumpkin Patch 5k 11/3
Race for the Hungry 5k 11/22
Turkey Trot 10k 11/24 I think this one is at a winery and includes wine tasting at the end!
Resolution Run 15k 1/5

Basically base building with some races thrown in. I'm starting some Chi Running training soon and hope that will be interesting. I also hope to kayak a ton throughout the winter, read some good books and maybe take some short weekend trips up the coast.

Haley, you doing Subaru? I'll be down for the sprint version.

After that, I think I may need a couple weeks of mixing in some non-tri workouts. Maybe some kayaking, juggling, basketball, boxing, etc. I also need to catch up with some friends.

After a brief mental break, it'll be a mix of base training, focus on swim technique, and getting back to some longer distance stuff on the run. If training goes well and injuries don't get in the way, I'd love to get in a half or two before a spring marathon.

In the meantime, I really need to do shorter running races. I'm thinking a Turkey Trot and a Run into the New Year event would be good staring points.

Somehow, I think TriBob might like tithers plan best.

Re: Fall Race Plans?
Lots of strength work and base building for my late winter marathon.

Of course, Tithers' plan is far more exciting than anything I've got in the works

Re: Fall Race Plans?
First goal is to heal my leg/knee pain completely.

Projects around the house and in the yard: painting, freeing trees of vines and pricker bushes, leveling the yard with dirt and planting grass - if it ever rains again.

I'd like to get the tent out at least once, maybe canoe and camp along the Delaware Water Gap.

I'm planning a 10K - Brian's Run in December - and that's it for racing, and that's more of a community fun event anyway.

We'll start playing frisbee on Saturdays after DST ends. And, I should also start strength training again.

Re: Fall Race Plans?
DH and I are running the local Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 5K, other than that all of my plans have gone by the wayside thanks to injuries, lack of motivation, etc. We'll spend the holidays overseas and then I start training for HIM (Steelhead) in January.

Enjoying the next couple of months of unplanned workouts!

Fall plans....

My first tri tomorrow! Pinehurst, international dist.

Nov - Outerbanks HM
Dec - Kiawah HM

The HM's are all tentative - I realize I may have bitten off more than I can chew, so I am just going to see how I feel when the time comes...
