Typed up this one and then opened another session just to make sure before I hit the Submit New Topic button. Good thing I did!

BBoy - Manny would fit right in with the Cubbies. Good luck with the Columbus half-mary.

On this day in 1867, the U.S. formally takes possession of Alaska after purchasing the territory from Russia for $7.2 million, or less than two cents an acre. The Alaska purchase comprised 586,412 square miles, about twice the size of Texas (everything isn't bigger in Texas!), and was championed by William Henry Seward, the enthusiastically expansionist secretary of state under President Andrew Johnson. {history.com}

Woke up to rain on the windows. Showed up at the health club where we meet for group runs and no one was in the lobby waiting for me at 5:15 am. Went downstairs, Chris and Dave were on the treadmills. As I walked up in my outdoor running clothes, Chris looked at Dave and said 'I told you so'. I informed them that they were both Nancy-boys and headed out by myself. Had a bit of a mist for the first mile, then dry the rest of the run. In fact, I ended up taking off my running jacket because I was overheating.

7.1 mi including 8 x 20 sec uphill bounds.

Then 50 minutes of weights.

Take control of your day, Tri-peeps!
Alaska Mike

Nancy boys for sure!

Rainy day run for me, first run over 2.2 miles in 2.5 weeks, so it's about time!

5 miles, tried to do Z1 failed miserably. FELT like Z1, HR said high Z2. <sigh> oh well, was still an "easy" run 1:08

I agree-Nancy boys. Woke up this morning, late and was p!ssed that I won't get to run in the rain today. It's misty and dark outside...and I'm sitting in my office.

Short 2 miles on the docket late tonight...maybe it will still be raining

Yep--rain in Cowtown this morning!

Sat on the bike going nowhere for 60mins. Bike is set up in the garage, so I got to watch the rain. Decided to reward myself with a run post ride.

I was totally drenched with sweat post ride. It felt soooo good to run in a cold rain!!! Short little trot around the neighborhood, keeping HR in z2. 2m in 17:55, 8:48pace. Certainly could have gone further, but coach only had me down for bike today, so I didn't wanna push it...

Nancy Boys for sure! That reminds me of something I wonder at my gym....I can get running on the treadmill if there's snow on the ground, or it's raining (personally I like running in the rain), or if you need to have your kids in the childcare.......BUT I always wonder about the people that are ALWAYS on the treadmill.....esp on a gorgeous crisp day.....I hate the dreadmill.....it's just one of those things that make me wonder.........LOL

60 minute pump class today............triceps are feelin' it!

Keep it real folks!

I wonder this too. When I run after work on some gorgeous night around the Charles River and all it's glory I walk behind my building to cool down. That takes me right past the little gym they have in the building and there's always someone on the treadmill watching TV. I just don't know how they can do it when they could be out on the paths and trails along the river enjoying the sights and sounds of a cool fall evening. I'd personally go nuts.

5-ish mi run planned for later. It's a perfect 68F day for it.

I always wonder about the guys doing laps on the track that is above the pool. First of all, it's SWAMPY in there. Second, won't it addle their brain running such tight circles?! I'm there 3 days a week, and the same guys are there every day. And I bet these are the guys fighting for the closest parking place, too........

Regarding the treadmill/track thing--I get reimbursed from my company each time I go to the health club to workout. It does seem silly to run on the treadmills when it's beautiful outside, on the other hand it's nice to get the reimbursement as well Tough call sometimes...

4boys- they built a trap above the POOL? What in the world were they thinking....and that anybody would choose to run there....bleh. The humidity must be terrible!

45 min cycle for me followed by a 2 mile run. Huge, crashing thunderstorms here in Indiana today.... so all inside. Then some weights....

Julie- I'm taking a power pump class at my gym, too. Killer lunges yesterday. My rump is killing me...

If you run in circles in the same direction all the time, you get wound up like a spring and if you get wound up too tight, bad things happen. That's why when you do track workouts, you should reverse direction every so often (don't worry, everyone else will get the hint and do the same thing when you come straight at them in lane one). And if you run a loop route on the road or trails and you always turn in the same direction, every so often you need to leap into the air and spin around in the opposite direction, just to unwind. Trust me on this.

We get some reimbursement for healthclub membership through the HMO. When I run, I drop my stuff in the locker room, run outside, and come back and shower. I don't feel like it's cheating just because I'm not in the building working out, since the whole point is to promote "healthy lifestyles." I wonder if you could do the same thing?

Oh, so workouts for me, 2400 meter swim with Kathy and Rose. Since we had a little team going, we turned it up a notch. I still can't keep up with those two, though.

Easy 30 minutes on the stationary bike with all the seniors getting their HMO reimbursement workouts this morning. They're a funny crowd to watch. They all have their routines and by God you best not mess with it.

3-mile recovery run later today, then rest tomorrow, then last race of the season (5K) on Saturday. Looking forward to being done.

Rest and travel today. Had a 3 mile run on the schedule but decided it would be best to push it off until tomorrow as a post flight stretcher.

Heading off for a long weekend. I'll be seeing some of you in person.

Have a great rest of the week peeps! See you on the other side.
