Re: Thursday 10-18-2007...A day which will...
Typed up this one and then opened another session just to make sure before I hit the Submit New Topic button. Good thing I did!
BBoy - Manny would fit right in with the Cubbies. Good luck with the Columbus half-mary.
On this day in 1867, the U.S. formally takes possession of Alaska after purchasing the territory from Russia for $7.2 million, or less than two cents an acre. The Alaska purchase comprised 586,412 square miles, about twice the size of Texas (everything isn't bigger in Texas!), and was championed by William Henry Seward, the enthusiastically expansionist secretary of state under President Andrew Johnson. {history.com}
Woke up to rain on the windows. Showed up at the health club where we meet for group runs and no one was in the lobby waiting for me at 5:15 am. Went downstairs, Chris and Dave were on the treadmills. As I walked up in my outdoor running clothes, Chris looked at Dave and said 'I told you so'. I informed them that they were both Nancy-boys and headed out by myself. Had a bit of a mist for the first mile, then dry the rest of the run. In fact, I ended up taking off my running jacket because I was overheating.
7.1 mi including 8 x 20 sec uphill bounds.
Then 50 minutes of weights.
Take control of your day, Tri-peeps!
Alaska Mike
