What are you most thankful for? MS related.

With Thanksgiving coming up tomorrow I thought it would be fun to share what we are most thankful for, multisport related.

For me:

Thankful for getting through HIM injury free!

Thankful for CS for helping me cross the finish line at HIM still feeling human and with a smile on my face.

Thankful for all my imaginary friends here at CR.

Thankful for a DH who now wants to do a tri!!!

And most thankful that at 41 and just starting out, I am physcially and mentally able to do thing I really really love!

Didn't realize I was imaginary!?!? Or maybe I'm not considered a friend! Hmph.

Thankful for... Running buddies at the corner on a cold rainy day... Open water swims at dawn and expecting to make it across the lake... Downhills... Uphills that make the flats seem easier... Never having seriously crashed my bike... Being (a bit beat up and stiff but generally) in good health... Watching my kids take interest in an active and healthy lifestyle... Bodyglide.

I'm grateful for a whole buncha ****...mostly that I am healthy...and have a nice hubby...cute dogs that get in trouble...a coach who knows my abilities and how to kick my a$$ and pick me back up when I'm down..."pretend" friends here that are supportive...a job I like...a house a car...the list goes on and on.

I'm a pretty lucky gal. No complaints here

I wonder if Sheldon will limit my calories tomorrow...hmmm...

imaginary

WoW
That's a big list for me.
First, a little shallow I guess the 100+lbs that #2 gave me that are gone.
Secondly, the fact that with all the sport (not just the 3) I'm able to regulate head/neck/back pain that had me on bed rest neither doc's, nor surgeons could fix, from a silly injury that caused massive damage
Third, improved lung function...while always active in youth you don't get great lungs by jumping horses and volleyball.
Fourth a passion that will stick with me for life. Better yet stick with my children. And at least a few lives I have been fortunate enough to get the chance to help create change.
Lastly, secretly, definition. Definition in who I am, definition in what I want too and have the ability too accomplish. Definition of goals and dreams that I really have found from undertaking such a complete life shift, a mind set change. Definition in my arms, definition in my shoulder, definition in my back, ( C says it's sexy!) definition in my abs (again) definition in my thighs for the first time ever (which I find sexy). Yes, I'm thankful for the many ways this crazy multi-sport life has enriched my life.
I'm thankful to have found y'all, as surrounded as I am by "fit folk" I feel most welcomed at at home with this bunch here.

Mel

I'm thankful for getting out and doing this stuff for 27 years and the hope that another season brings, I'm blessed to have my family and the friends I have made along the way, what a great ride this has been.

Mel-losing 100+ pounds and being thankful/proud/grateful is NOT shallow.

Think of how much HEALTHIER you are. If you were still 100+ pounds heavier, do you think you'd be doing the activity you are doing today?

Trust me...I guess I'm preaching to the choir...but it's no fun being young and not being able to tie your shoes and breaking a huge sweat. Been there. Done that. Never again. Just sayin!

NOT SHALLOW!

For my husband who gave me the ok to semi-retire this year. This way I can spend more time with my family and my training buddies.

Of all my training buddies - Debra - who no matter what crazy idea I have about our run the next morning she is willing to do it with me. No matter what hour, no matter what distance.

would it be shallow to say I'd be more thankful if I had gotten to keep the boobs?

I'm thankful to have found something I enjoy almost as much as being in the mountains, but that can be done every day with minimal family disruption.

I'm thankful to have finally found a way to alleviate that obnoxious seasonal depression ****.

I'm thankful I have two arms, two legs, and good lungs.

I'm thankful there are people doing triathlons who do not have two arms and two legs. I know if I ever lose a limb, it's not the end of racing.

I'm thankful there are folks out there risking their limbs (and much more) so I can blissfully wander down the road worrying about my lactate threshold instead of how to feed my kids today.

I'm thankful to be a part of this little group. Very thankful.

I am thankful for way more than I can list here. One of the things way up high on my list is that I am thankful for my friends here at CR Multisport. You have been a huge source of inspiration, motivation, and support.

Thank you.

Thankful for ...
... staying healthy and injury free
... still doing what I now love to do (though when I started 3 years ago me and other thought it's just a fad which will go away before the end of the year)
... being someone's imaginary friend
... having a home office job and affording the time to train
... still being able to overcome my body's limits
... living in a pretty flat area :-)
and more, I'm sure

Re: What are you most thankful for? MS related.
My health. Five years ago I was very very sick. My world revolved around percocet. I'd go for a walk, get two houses up and wonder how the he!! I was going to get back home. Poor dog would go with me and take two steps and have to wait for me. Now, I've done a bunch of HM's, 4 'thons (#5 is in a week and a half!), and a sprint tri. (perhaps this explains why I'm freaking out so much right now...)

Having on-line friends who support me in these crazy sports.

Great husband. Great kids. Great house. Great neighborhood that's measured perfectly! Corner to the school is 1m, school to the other corner is 1m. Oh, and the high school track (open all the time!) is a 10min run from my house!

I'm thankful for...
-All of the advice and inspiration I've received from everyone in CRMS.
-Finishing this season without a stress fracture
-The fact that I have discovered triathlons early in life and through this forum, I have seen where this sport can take me and all of the things people can accomplish.
-The dream of ironman that has been instilled in me thanks to this forum.
-being healthy and to be able to train.

Thankful that I found the hidden courage to tri new things this year.

Thankful that this tri courage has helped me remember the person I once was and want to be again.

Thankful that in spite of some falls, I have not been seriously injured this year.

Thankful that I have the means to travel.

Thankful that I have my DH to travel with.

Thankful that I found CR-what a wealth of knowledge and I feel like you are people that I could sit down to dinner with.

Happy Thanksgiving.
