This is a follow up on the Stephanie Johnson Tri that I did in August. I wrote a report that some of you may remember. If you don't want to read all that I have below, that is fine, but please watch the attached video. It is awesome!
Below is an email I sent to my IMAZ training group:
"Please take a moment to read the email below and watch the video that goes with it. I was fortunate enough to be a part of the first Stephanie Johnson Tri and to say it was life-changing for me and my family is an understatement.
As we head into training for IMAZ, I think we need to remember to not get too wrapped up in the swimming, biking, and running, and need to take a step back and remind ourselves how incredibly lucky we are to even have the chance to train for an Ironman. Stephanie Johnson deserves to be called an Ironman far more than I will ever deserve to be, yet she will probably never have the opportunity that each of us has right now.
I'm sorry if this is all cheesey and sappy, but as OCD triathletes, sometimes we can forget the bigger picture and become a little too involved in ourselves and our training. We all may need to be reminded of this throughout our journey, especially when things aren't going well.
So, thank you for joining me in this journey we call Ironman and I hope we are able to do it together, with Determination, Endurance, and Purpose."
The original email that prompted my email above is here:
"Determination, Endurance and Purpose
Determination, Endurance and Purpose. Three qualities that lie within people who not only want more from life but choose to seize it. These three qualities are what drive many to endure things they thought they never could and to strive for things they thought they never would. They pull the best out of people. They raise the bar for those around them. They inspire others to achieve new levels. They sometimes leave other shaking their heads saying, ?I could never do that.?
Determination, endurance and purpose are what The Stephanie Johnson Triathlon is about. Not only for those who are introduced to the sport, trained for the first time in their lives and have the feeling of accomplishment when they cross the finish line. But also for those who are in a five-year race to move from ?survivor? to ?cured?
Now, you can relive The Stephanie Johnson Triathlon and have a keepsake offered by very few events. Follow this link to the video from The Stephanie Johnson triathlon.

This video is available in high quality on DVD for FREE. Also, please feel free to forward this email to anyone who may be interested. Artista Media has graciously donated the shooting and production of the video to the triathlon. We do ask that you consider making a donation in exchange for the video to help us cover the hard costs of the DVD and postage, and to seed the 2008 triathlon. Next year, we want to double the size of the event and the money we raise. To do that, we want to set up a foundation or non-profit, develop a website, advertise earlier and more. The funds from the video will be used to begin that process. To request a video, send an email at StephanieJohnsonTri@gmail.com or mail your check to 10414 Harnwell Crossing Drive, Spring, TX 77379. Checks can be made out to The Stephanie Johnson Triathlon. If you prefer to make a donation with a credit card, we accept PayPal at the email address listed earlier.
If you are interested in following Stephanie?s story, you can log on to her personal blog at www.carepages.com.[/URL" target="_blank"> Once you register, go to the carepage name ?Pray4Stef? where you can get updates on her progress, see photos of the family and more.
May you live life with Determination, Endurance and Purpose.
Keep TRI-ing until there?s a cure,
Greg and Stephanie"
