Re: Happy Hour - September
September already! Geech!!

Arrow - if you are lurking - I hope you are feeling better soon. Silly of you to think you could run so soon.

Bugs - Welcome back from vacation. I agree with Mary on the frog hunting - no way jose! Are you going to start training for anything?

Mary - your 2 mile race is this Friday? It sounds like the boys are doing well with soccer. How are they liking their new school?

Yep, I guess I have to taper this week. I ran the course last Saturday and made it in 2:20. I hope to carve 5 minutes off of that - but the weather is suppose to be warm and the race doesn't start until 10 a.m. This morning was a 4 mile run with Brinkley - coming off a 30.5 mile week.

Re: Happy Hour - September
Mary - I just thought we had already started a September thread - duh!

I think tapering is equivilent to telling a child they can't do something . . . . then sit back to see if they listen and reap the benefits. So far I'm doing good. Thursday and Friday it will be hard not to run though.

30 minute Tempo run today. 9:16 / 9:05 / 9:47 / 2:38 for an average 9:26 pace. Yesterday I wore a jacket, pants and gloves - today I wore shorts and sleeveless top. Weather prediction for Saturday - "Unseasonably Warm" - Oh goody!

Cheers!

Thanks Mary - I've been good and have not run. Having DH take me to Johny Carino's tonight for some pasta!

I hope you ran out and got some matching shorts last night! Good luck with the 2 miler - I am betting you will do great.

Let's pop in tomorrow and check in on each other.

Great job Mary!! DS2 did a great job. I know how he feels, I feel like throwing up after every 5K. Happy to see that Arrow was feeling well enough to give it a go too.

Our race didn't start until 10 a.m. - and with the unseasonably warm weather we've been having it added to the difficulty. Not a cloud in the sky let me tell ya! Here's the report I filed over in Boomer's.

Thanks Mary!!

Re: Happy Hour - September
Fashion? Fashion Report?? I did think of that after collapsing in my chair.

Green shorts with white trim - white tank top - and white visor with MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS "S" and green trim. The beat Notre Dame this afternoon - so all is good with the football world.

That's a cool part of your race - would you have gone if you won a ride? I think that would be so much fun. I'd probably scream the whole way though!

I've been a little bummed this afternoon and will try to work a little harder. There is another 1/2 the end of October that I am toying with - but we'll see.

Enjoy the day!

Re: Happy Hour - September
Hopeful,
Good luck with your race. You will do great, just enjoy the moment.

Mary,
Glad to hear you are running so well, and injury free. Hope John is doing as well. I think you are very blessed to have a "running family".

I am on the injured list. I had a bone scan, and Doc is 80% certain I have a SF in my tiba, but need to do an MRI to confirm. I was having hip trouble, and turns out my pelvis had tlted and was running with one leg shorter. Thought I had the hip problem on the mend, but been in so much pain lately that Doc and I decided Friday that I should have a bone scan for that too.

Guys, I'm sort of falling apart over this. It is bad enough I had to skip a 15 mile race, and will have to miss the marathon in two weeks. I can't imagine 2-3 months off, and who knows when I can race again, because Doc says I will have to take it slow when I come back. If there is a SF in my hip it is 6 months off, and very limited XTing if any. Those little races are my only break from a dead end job, and a tone deaf husband. All my friends are runners, and I'm just at such a loss. I absolutely hate the gym. I suck at swimming. Aqua jogging is driving me nuts. Seriously i'm going to dunk one of those senior citizens as their babbling is driving me nuts.

I love races. I love runners. I can always talk to runners. I know just what to say after a race, and it always leave me refreshed. I just can not imagine missing all the fall and winter races.

Really, if it's six months off, then I myself make my reservations at the looney bin, because I won't be able to take it.

Doc is running a marathon the same day as my marathon was suppose to be. His wife also did the dualthon that I almost did instead of the marathon. So basically, I'm jealous of both of them, and pist and my stupid self for getting injured. I thought I was being careful. I was running so good in July, and then in August I started getting sick, and it's been down hill ever since. You know how I think I got into this mess???? Too many situps. Oh I am so stupid.

I'm pisted because I had asked Doc about abscense of period, and I mad he didn't give me some drug to make up for it. I'm pisted because woman have a higher risk of SFs, and why is woman versus men get the sucky bodies. They are naturally faster and have stronger bones, no periods, or any of the other **** woman have to put up with.

This is a vent of all vents..sorry..Oh be careful guys..sorry I have to go find the vodka......

This made me laugh out loud!!

Bugs - when are you suppose to have the bone scan and MRI, and when will you get the results? Try to think positive and not get too worked up until you have some definitive results.

Are you saying that you have not been getting your periods? Are you getting the proper nutrition? I know that periods stop when the body is under too much stress and your Dr. should have been more concerned about that.

How about more volunteering at race (if it comes down to not running them). You could stay busy that way - and you already know what to say to racers/runners - you would be great at that.

Hang in there and keep us posted!! You know that we are here for you.

Yesterday I got in 4 recovery miles at 10:15 pace. Then we golfed 18 holed with another couple and went out for dinner. Basically nothing got done this weekend on the home front. But, we had fun!!
