Mary Yes I got the books on Friday!! Omg...it was so funny though. I didn't pay much attention to the box sitting on the table since Jason beat me home on Friday. So Saturday night when I was cleaning I was like would you do something with that box on the table?? He looked at me like I had horns growing out of my head...I said what is that anyway? He's like I don't KNOW, it's addressed to YOU. oh.......woops, sorry dear. I didn't know the other one was juicy!!!! ****...I would've started that one instead, ha ha.
Nice job on running while on vacation too!!!!! Does your daughter LOOK like a boy??

Hey Girlies (and Wine aka CT)!

Sorry for being MIA for so long! I have been lurking though! I don't think I have posted since I thought I was prego. I am not. woohoo. It would have not been the end of the world if I was but just would not have been the best timing. My kiddos started school in Sept. so that is why I have been MIA. It was hard getting back to a schedule. The good news is that I have been doing the C25k and am on week 4 this week. So far no pain in my feet or anything, woohoo. I am down about 2.5 lbs but know that I won't really see any loss until I get up to running 3 miles or so. I am ok with that. At this point I am focusing on fitness not weight loss, knowing that the weight will come off as I get more fit! Ok, time to try and catch up.

Sarah--I hope everyone in your family is feeling better!

Mary--Happy Anniversary!

Melanie--Sorry about Jason's grandfather and the whole mess with that (If I am remembering that right). Yeah for quitting smoking!

Cherrie--woohooo on better fitting clothes!

Monnier--glad to hear your stomach bug is gone! Any more news on the ring shopping?

Jhi--Boo to your boss! I am blasting my radio right now. "Everybody was Kung Foo Fighting"

Pradnya--Welcome. I am the sporadic poster of the group!

Michelizda--We are still waiting in pics of the new do!

Hello and sorry to everyone I missed! It's hard doing that from memory!

My October goal is to keep plugging along with the c25k and be running 3 miles by the end of the month. It is hard to take things slow but I really don't want to re-injure my foot! Another goal will be to post more! I love you guys!

Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
Melanie - she looked like a boy back then. She always wore her hair real short - which was her choice - not mine. We used to call her "Kenny". hehehehehe That is funny about the box of books!!

Goals? We are suppose to have goals?? Cherrie - I like your 300 crunch goal. I did mine this morning.

Okay - with little thought these are my goals.

Finish my 1/2 Marathon the end of the month with a respectful time - hopefully a PR - hopefully more - a 2:15.

Loose 5 pounds by that time. At least 4!!

Find or buy another Stablity ball workout DVD and do that twice a week. Or my DD's step video.

That's it!

Mary I missed that....I thought the waiter thought she was a boy this weekend! And I was thinking....well I've seen pictures, I don't remember her looking boyish at all, lol. That explains it....you called her Kenny. Poor kid.

Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
Hi Ya Lindsey!! Good for you - week 4 already!! Taking it slow is key to keeping your foot healthy.

Melanie - I had to force myself out for my run yesterday too. DD's boyfriend was saying, aw just blow it off. Nope - gotta do it and I'm still paying for it with a headache today.

So, on my way home last night my neighbor runner stops and asks if I wanna do a long run with her Sunday. I say sure (because I'm flippin' delirious by this point) and now I wish I could have thought up an excuse. I want to do 14, which I know is not a problem for her - but talking for 14 miles, plus she is faster, etc. Sometimes I need to walk, or just daydream, or find a bathroom . . . . I'm not sure what to do. Weather is now looking like rain for Sunday, so when it gets closer I may call and say I'm doing mine Saturday early. Oh bother. . . .

Mary LOL @ calling her Kenny!! Poor thing! I was wondering too why your DD was along for the bow-chicka-bow-wow trip this weekend.. I hate running with people, so I don't know what I'd do in your shoes.. although maybe she'll push you a bit (not that you're not already doing a good job pushing yourself)?

Hi Lindsey! Welcome back! I'm cracking up that you show up all out of the blue and start demanding stuff, like pics from Michelizda! YAY for starting c25k again and staying injury-free!

Ok.. i'm awake from my nap and headed back to lab to prepare for my lab meeting tomorrow. I can't quite figure out why I was put on the schedule for right now.

Hello everyone! I am a complete newbie, hope this is the place to go. I have enjoyed reading these posts, just listening to you has gotten me motivated again, I want to jump on my treadmil. I have recently lost 27 pounds, have another 30 to go, and I'm slowly working my way up to running, just discovered the program, so I guess tomorrow I am on week one, day one! I walk about 3-5 miles a day, trying to get faster, but from what I've been reading here I won't worry so much about that just yet.

Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
Hi Tacy!

So you too are a newbie like me! though you seem to have gotten into the groove already by loosing so much of weight. Can you share with us how you've achieved weight loss?

Monnier, thanks for pointing out the c25k! Actually I have started on it a couple of times and left it,I simply cannot complete whole 8 runs of 30 secs each. So I have never gone beyond week 1. It just seems too hard!! But now I have decided that I'd work towards some definite goals. Probably I might take some time to get there, but I do wish to get there. So, for me it cant be 9 weeks of c25k. I'll keep on continuing week 1 till I am able to run all the 8 runs of 30 seconds.
Besides there's a Standard Chartered Marathon in Jan here and I am planning to enroll for the 5k dream run. That gives me quite a lot of time, I believe enough to gain the stamina, resistance that I need!

Hey I read peoples' goals around here! loosing 10 lbs by Halloween!! wow! thats about within a month!!
but that inspired me to set down my own goals for October. So mine :
1. Cover total of 75 Kms by way of brisk walking.
2. Additionally, every alternate day run for half hour
3 Weigh about 138-139 lbs from the current 143.

I have 2 questions related to weightloss+running+dieting:
1. I walked yesterday for about 3.5 miles and did 20 mins stretching after that. I noticed that I couldnt sleep for a long time at night. I have noticed that everytime I start with any form of exercise, this happens. Has any of you experienced similar thing?
2. Also, obviously, diet+exercise wont work initially coz the more one exercises, more hungry one feels. So how did you all deal with this when you first started running for weight loss? A related Q is having a filling snack vis a vis satisfying the hunger. Sometimes, even after consuming somehing healthy like say juices/fruit etc (and at regular intervals), one DOES feel hungry. How to know whether its because one really needs to consume more food or its just because of the earlier habit of eating filling carb foods?

Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
Morning all ~~ Went to Belly Dancing last night. The instructor now has me thinking about moving up to the next level. She said that I 'have' all the moves and am ready for more - Oh boy, we'll see. Didn't run though by the time I got home DH was working on my truck (changing the fly wheel) and was hungry so I felt a bit guilty and cooked for him. This morning was Rontell. A circuit - not as intense as last week. Here it is:

20 jumping jacks - 3 sets
20 squats - 3 sets
20 push ups - 3 sets
that was the warm up

Push ups off a bench - 20
jump over the bench - 20
squat thrusts w/ 8 lb medicine ball - 20
jump ups onto a bench - 20
jump pull ups - 20
pull ups (laying on the floor and lifting my upper body toward rings) - 20

did 4 sets of that.

Mary You may have been right - the scale on Sat had me at 179.something. This morning it is 174.4. Much better!! 5 pounds in 2 days - water!!

Michele Hope you are able to get online while on your business trip - if not we'll be here when you get back!!

{{{{{Michelle}}}}} Hope you are ok.

Prad I am usually "pumped" for a bit after I exercise but overall sleep well afterward. Maybe you just need to wait a bit before going to bed or maybe you could do something relaxing like a bath or something. As for your food question - Eat protein after your workout - that will help with recovery and will hopefully help you feel fuller. I eat things w/ high fiber as my snacks - keeps me full. Good Luck.

ok, BBL....
