Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
Morning! I just woke up.. let myself sleep 8 hours which is crazy! last night's dinner was a blast! We ate, then went dancing for a bit, then I was home and in bed by midnight. Now, back to work.

Pradnya yikes for getting home so late! Are they successfully swaying you at work or are there words falling on deaf ears? You sound like you've got a great head on your shoulders! as you figure all this stuff out. Good luck in starting c25k this weekend!

Mary, good for DH about maybe seeking out some help. I would be scared too about all the things you mentioned. {{ hopeful family }}. Sounds like you need your running now more than ever.

I can't remember what else i was going to say..

becky! Did you chase down that cute boy??

Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
Hey gals. Girls are still undefeated...very nice!!! They pretty much crushed the competition last night....the games looked easy for them. So no run last night, no run tonight. We are playing in another dart tourney (the same one I did two Fridays ago). I'm going to try and maintain a little better this time around....since I want to get up tomorrow and run 5 miles. I haven't heard back yet from the race people...I just want to know what I can race. Maybe I should call.....what?? Talk to an actual person?????? You can do that. I rely way too much on e-mail and text messaging sometimes.
Mary Big hugs to you.....I'd be scared too but at least your hubby recognizes that he needs a little help and is willing to go and get it. Unfortunately there are too many people that won't do that and then everyone around them suffers. Sometimes all it takes is a simple pill.
Jhi Yea you got the dress!!!! Very cool!! Speaking of reality tv....I was desperately hooked on Temptation Island when that was on....what a disaster that show was.
Pradnya wow....big changes in your life!!!! Sounds like you know what you're doing though and it's for the best so congrats and good luck!
Becky Yes...I'm with Jhi. I want to know if you chased down the hottie in the lobby. If not...shame on you!!

Back to work....TGIF!!!!!!

Good morning everyone! (Or afternoon, evening...)
I can't remember which one of you mentioned doing 1000 crunches a week, that's amazing, I am going to go for that as well. When I started a month ago I could only do 3 (I've had FOUR c-sections!) I did 100 this morning, then did my W1D2. I can only do 50 situps at a time though, my upper body strength isn't so good yet! Push ups are hard!! (And I am talking "girl" pushups, LOL) On the plus side, I am wearing an old pair of size 8 shorts, yay! On the topic of Fall TV, does anyone watch the Bachelor? I totally missed it this week, tried to watch it online but missed who got sent home...Has anyone ever caught Honey We're Killing the Kids, on TLC? That was lifechanging TV for my family.

Tacy - just keep working at the push ups and crunches - you'll get there before you know it. I do 300 crunces at a time 4-5 times a week. I'm up to 50 (as of today) girlie pushups. I am a weakling too!

Talked to DH again at lunch time and he was sounding better. Asked if he'd like me to go to the Dr. with him, but he'd rather go alone, which I can understand.

Also got out of running with the neighbor Sunday. Left her a message that with the weather report (warm/humid) that I may try and get up early tomorrow and get my Long run in. Also that I had lots to do at home and some family issues to deal with so I didn't want her waiting for me - or have the pressure of "having" to run. All true! I do hope to get up early and get in my longest ever run - 14 miles!! We'll see!!

Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
I have good news...they changed my 5k to a 10k for next weekend. I'm so excited now!!! A year ago I would've never thought I would be running in races....EVER!!!
Mary I don't think I would want to run with the neighbor either. I would be way too stressed out about keeping up, talking or any number of various issues. I'll only run with people in races.
14 miles!!!!! You maniac. That's so awesome, you give me lots of inspiration and motivation.

Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
Mary I didn't have to call....she sent me an e-mail back before I had the chance, ha ha ha.
Those are great pictures!!! We had the option to go camping with some friends this weekend, where a bunch of them all have their campers set up year round. We know most of them that go there, but the couple that told us to go and use theirs won't be there! (our dart teammates). I felt weird about going and staying in someone else's camper....we said we'd go next year when they're there too. (Even though we had people insisting we go for about 2 hours). So darts, volleyball tourney, running and bingo is on store for the weekend....oh and the Packers play Sunday night. Yippee!!! I'll check in tomorrow to see how you did on the 14 miles.

Re: a-WEIGH-we-go!!!! 1.Oct - 7.Oct
Howdy-ho!

So, I haven't been frequenting Cool Running for a couple years and noticed that my account had been deleted laughs. That's my typical luck right there for ya.

I've mostly been a lurker, hardly interacting with anyone, and I decided that it's time to get into the thick of it!

I tend to enjoy these kind of mixed thread with all kinds of random stuff thrown in

I'll help myself and get started on what the beep I'm doing here:

My name's Petteri and I'm what many people would say a lost Fin (someone from Finland), as I'm currently settled down in the Netherlands, having lived in both Sweden and Finland. I'd say I'm here just for work, but then again; I'm here now for three years and counting.

'What does this all have to do with running?' you might ask, but wait - there is more!

I've been doing all kinds of martial arts for the past 8 or so years, mainly thai boxing, regular boxing and karate. Obviously I learned early on that running was not just recommended, it was the 'only' way to achieve match-day stamina. Right, so I ran on, hating every minute of it.

Fast-forward to present day (to spare your brain cells from reading ****): I invested in the Nike+ sports kit, and a pair of compatible shoes some weeks ago, and finally decided to start doing my roadwork a few days ago.

I'd say I'm not that unfit, as I'm still doing thai boxing, but **** - runs sure are taxing. So for the past days I've been doing 3-5k runs, perhaps including some sprints here and there to keep me motivated. I love sprint work. It breaks you down so nicely.

I do a host of other things on the side too, and I suspect I'll introduce those later on in this thread and in the ones to come.

This is the point where I award you with a cookie for reaching the end of my massive post :P

Cheers,
Petteri

Petteri Welcome!! Ha ha, I think you'll fit right in here. I'll throw in that I have a lot of Swedish ancestry in my system. All my relatives came from Sweden but lived in Finland and where I grew up? Fins everywhere.... Martial arts eh?? Now THAT sounds interesting!

Hey Ladies!

The question is about: RUNNER'S HIGH! Has any of you experienced it?

Being a beginner, it seems a utopian concept to me that after running miles and miles, sweating, dehydrated and perhaps sore, in scortching heat or biting cold etc, people get on some sort of a high, kinda extremely pleasant feeling ....

So if any of you has actually felt something akin to this please share with us how is it like..
