Good morning all...

Got in 4 miles last night with the new shoes...darnit, same knee problem...started right around the 3 mile mark, went away and then came back in the last 1/2 mile...**** **** ****...what could it be??? I'm going to do a few more runs with the new shoes to see if it was just a fluke (wishful thinking) but I figure it can't hurt...then I'll just have to decide which ones to keep and which to return...

DH entered me in the Poland Spring 5 mile race on October 28th in NYC...wasn't that nice??? LOL! His company is the main sponsor so I got in free through their program and running spots...wish me luck!

Hey everyone - got busy and haven't posted. Thanks for posting all the great race reports. They are very helpful for me as I'm just getting into my training. Saturday I did my first 4-miler. I actually ended up at 4.2. I also had my first encounter with a jerk driver who forced me off of the road even though he had plenty of room to move around me. Grrrrr!

I got my Forerunner on Tuesday and have done a couple of workouts with it. It is very cool! One question I have about Motion Based for those or you using it. Do I have to turn off the Garmin Training Center to be able to upload my workouts to Motion Based or can workouts that are already in TC also be uploaded to MB?

This weekend's long run is 5 miles. I'm thinking I'm going to need to start carrying water with me and maybe some sport drink or gel or something. Since my previous runs have never been long enough to require something like this, I'm looking for suggestions. My big limitation is that I'm gluten intolerant, so I can't do any type of energy bar.

Happy running!
Marilyn

How cool is that!

fit45 - I think it's very cool and thanks for sharing your race report! I was also overweight ( I've lost 118 lbs and more left to go ) and a total couch potato and I still can't believe I'm doing this or how much I love it. Your report is truly inspiring!

Fit45 - I have to agree with Marilyn - your race report was very inspiring - I think it is so great that you've gone from not being able to walk a mile and can now run 13 of them. Way to go - you must be so proud of yourself.

Marilyn - 118lbs - that's amazing. That's the size of a small person - imagine piggybacking someone that size and trying to run. You should be so proud of your accomplishments.

Chuck - I had a similiar problem as yours, after my race on Sunday. I was starting to get worried and thought I should see my doctor, but it resolved itself a day later. I understand your concern though.

Sounds like everyone else is on track. Who's racing this weekend? Good luck to everyone that is!!

I haven't been out since the half on Sunday - the toe nails on my big toes are pretty battered and discolored - I can't believe I have to be barefoot in public when we go on our cruise in a couple of weeks. Is it okay to paint your toenails when they're discolored like that?

I'm feeling good today, so I'm debating going out tonight if I get home early, but will likely not get out until Saturday morning and will try for 10km - funny how that sounds easy now.

Oh yeah - my husband bought me a new ipod as congratulations for finishing the half. My old ipod was not holding it's charge (towards the end I was lucky to get 35-40 minutes out of it). The new ipod is the new nano - 8gb. I can't wait to load her up and take her for a run!!

Hey gang...

I am not dead...yet. Getting ready for trial, actually, which starts Monday. No time to run or sleep, so it would appear. I have run ONE day this week (Monday) and no run in sight until Saturday... And I hate that I am missing runs. I feel crappy without them mentally and physically. This too shall pass, I pray...

Be well, y'all!
Dan

Man, what a day! We have had tornados today. One touched down in Pensacola and did a lot of damage. It looked like Kansas. Everyone is fine I think but a big mess. 8 inches of rain so far and not done yet.

well it's over 10 inches now and still pouring. It hit several houses and a church and a day care. Some of which had just finished rebuilding after hurricane Ivan a few years back. I'm doing better today but think I'll need a boat to get my run in!

Joe, yes we're getting clobbered! It's suppose to be a tropical weather system comming out of the Gulf along with a cold front hitting us at the same time. Suppose to be lows in the 50's this weekend, but for now they say this is suppose to still be around tomarrow {80% chance of rain}. I'm buying a RX7 comvertable from my brother in Mobile and was going to pick it up today but thought better of it. Maybe this weekend!

Stay safe Chuck!

Well, I emailed the running store, again, and they are recommending two different shoes/brands which might be more of a neutral shoe so I will return the Asics, do some short runs in the Mizunos I have (haven't had knee pain in them on runs around 3 miles) and wait for the others to come to try...I am grateful they are being so helpful...I guess that's what they get for promoting a 100% guarantee for fit! Replacement or full refund...

I might try to get out for a short 2 miles today and see how that feels...depends on the weather and the hour...

I was having trouble with a pair of assics cumulas and went to the 2110's and they worked great but I love my brooks! They are the best I've had thus far.

Hey, we've made the world news. I think everyone made it ok. I hope so.

Hey all,

Got 4 miles in today. +3 C here cloudy and windsy. Nothing like what Chuck is experiencing though. I take the cold over the troipcal storms anyday.

It felt good to get out and run today. I feel much better and maybe I'll be able to geta decent sleep tonight.

I finally broke down and ordered shoes online. Ordered 2 pair of New Balance 1060's that I absoulely loved when I had a pair. Decided I'm tired of screwing with the new shoes and I'll get ones I know I like. Cost me less to order 2 pairs online from the states including shipping than the last pair I bought here.

Good runs all

Have a happy Friday.
