chuck-yikes! It looks like today is a good day to say inside!

marilyn-I haven't used gu yet, and I felt fine without it during all of my training runs (up to 10 miles) and in my 1/2 last weekend. It seems like the key is eating and drinking right the day before your long runs.

No run for me yet. The soreness is gone in my legs, but my knee has terrible sharp pain. I am sure that it is my bodies reaction to the stress of the race last weekend. Maybe I will swim tomorrow instead of running. I am dying to hit the pavement, but I want to heal first.

Corrina - Are we twins separated at birth? I run in NB1060s. Unfortunately, since they've been discontinued they are harder and harder to find. I can no longer find them in my size - 8.5D. Though the last two pairs I got for just US $49.99 each as end-of-stock clearance. I'm glad you were able to get them in your size!

I just bought a pair of NB1061's on Ebay - new - for $59.99, including s/h. Breathlessly waiting for them to arrive.

The leaves here are finally starting to turn -- it looks like fall. Today the wind was blowing steadily, which would have felt like fall, too, except the temp was close to 90.

Just finished up my pre-HM running log -- downloaded the last data from my Polar. 592 miles from June 1 - HM day, October 13.

I had a laugh with DBF before the HM on Saturday, contemplating the number of hours cumulatively and the amount of money cumulatively the entire group of racers had spent in preparation for that event. Just imagine what the world would be like if each of them spent a tenth of that time and money volunteering for a good cause.

5am 7 miler today. (Will try to make this my last "long" run 'til my HM on the 28th.) 45 degrees - great for running. Surprised, and sorry, so many of you still have the heat.

Hope all is well for you who are experiencing the rain & BIG winds. Be careful out there.

Great runs to all

Hi everyone, just a quick check in. We are under a tornado warning here in KY also so I'm not gonna keep the computer on long. The Satallite is out so I thought I'd try to check some posts before it gets to bad.

Looks like everyone is doing great. I took a rest day today.

Hey, Jeep, I am giving serious consideration to doing the Detroit half marathon next October. Just couldn't work it in this year as we took vacation a couple of weeks ago to Toronto and I ran a half there. Don't know how you do it...running a number of halfs so close together. I am just getting back into my stride and it has been 2 1/2 weeks since my race. Can you share your secret?

I have an amnipod fuel belt that I take with me for any runs longer than 5 miles. Have plenty of liquids and a small pocket for other items. Works well for me and doesn't seem to get in the way when I run.

Chuck, stay safe in that difficult weather. Guess I am a real whimp, I decided do my 4 miler on the treadmill tonight due to 30 mph winds. Am getting tired of the treadmill. Hopefully will get outside this weekend.

Don't really know what a "virtual running partner' is or does. Guess I am just getting a little frustrated trying to find someone in my area that runs as slow as I do that might like to run with me once a week.

Hope all those experiencing bad weather are ok this morning...Chuck, Sheila...check in when you can...

Got in 2 miles last night in the dark...ran after DH ran...went across the street to the condo complex that is lit which was good...came across some deer who looked at me like I was nuts..."What are you doing out here in the dark?" was what I am sure they were asking...ran in my Mizunos, no knee pain, sending the Asics back today...

Hoping to get in 2 or 3 miles today depending on the weather...it is our 11th Anniversary today and we both forgot this morning! LOL! I remembered on my way into work and called DH at home...he laughed and said he and DD were just talking about that...maybe we'll go out for a little dinner tonight.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey everyone, yes Joe it is still raining here but letting up. I don't think there was anyone hurt serious, just cuts and bruses. We're all glad of that. I hope Sheila missed the storms.
