Hello long haulers.

I'm finally feeling 90% better after the sinus infection.

I ran yesterday and today. I'm doing low heart rate running and am in the 3rd week. I think I see a bit of improvement. I'm able to go a little faster some of the time and maintain my target heartrate.

I did 3.5 miles today.

Vanessa

We got exciting news today - my mother-in-law is moving, and darn it...she doesn't have room for her treadmill in the new house. So ... we are inheriting it on moving day! It's a really nice one, too. Not to mention, just like new!

Just in the nick of time - it's getting quite chilly here in the mornings. I had to dig out my gloves last week.

Happy running this week!

Wow Vanessa! 3.5 miles. That's great. Imagine what you'll do when you're back to 100%. Keep up the good work

Janet, I envy your treadmill. Although I think DH would hang clothes on it if I had one

W5D1, OHR. SSDD.

In other news, I want to start half marathon training when I'm done. I think I'm going to use Smart Coach from RunnersWorld.com. It gives you an individualized training program and works on increasing your pace.

I'm out of town on business, but I managed to squeeze in a run today. I'm in Ithaca, NY at Cornell University, and I did a 2-mile run around Beebe lake. It was a great run, though the running trail had quite a lot of hills and stairs. That made things a little bit challenging.

No pain at all in the knee or hip, so I think the taking-things-slow plan is doing the trick. I pushed myself a little bit today because I was pressed for time, but things seem to have worked out pretty well.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Vanessa. That 3.5 miles is impressive, given how under the weather you've been. Congratulations!

Great snag on the treadmill, Janet. Just in time for the winter!

Christie -- could you say a little bit more about Smart Coach? Sounds interesting. I'm sticking with HH for now, but the personalized program sounds intriguing.

Hey Don,

It generates a program based on your most recent 5k race time (or how fast you can run a mile), how many miles you run a week, how hard you want to train, how long you want the program to be and you get to choose your long run day. You can check it out here[/URL" target="_blank">.

Hi everybody!

Between shin splints and a never-ending stomach virus, I took last week off of running. Gosh, that was hard! I did a very easy 2 mile run this morning, just to make sure the shin splints were gone for good.

juststarted & kimber, what is the HH program? I must have missed that somewhere. Do you have a link you can provide for me?

jazzy, sinus infections can seem to take forever to go away completely. They are very draining on your body, too. Glad you are easing yourself back in, although 3.5 miles is a terrific run!

Janet, wtg on the free treadmill! I know you'll get a lot of use out of that.

Christie, thanks for providing that link to the website. That was very helpful to me!

Don, wtg on running even when you are out of town. A lot of people would use that as an excuse.

Thanks, everybody, for keeping this thread alive! I really depend on it.

Hi everyone.

Kimber, sorry to hear you're sick. I think it's the change of seasons or something.

Christie: That Smart Coach is interesting!

I did 4 miles on the treadmill last night. I am doing LHR training, so it wasn't fast at all, but I kept telling myself I was burning calories! I had eaten too close to doing it, so that also seemed to slow me down.

Kimber, get some rest. This weather is making us all sick. It's hot, then cold, then hot again.

W5D2 of OHR, nothing much to report.

Kimber, thanks for the link. I think I will join you on this new venture. I need structure, or I won't push myself.

I hope you feel better soon, you poor thing.
