20's Monday

Happy Happy Monday!!!!

Ok...ok.... I know that's a bit too happy for a Monday but I can't help it because we sold our house!!!!! I'm going a bit crazy trying to think of everything that needs to be done but we're finally going to move!

The whole thing is actually pretty funny because I accidentally locked the potential buyers out of the house and we had to swing back by the house after we left to let the people in. Apparently it didn't deter them because we had a good offer that night. It looks like we'll be closing on November 16th. We'll be all moved in before Thanksgiving and DS's second birthday!

So, in the next few weeks we need to find a new place to live, schedule the movers, find a new doctor and wrap up all the loose ends here in KC. Craziness!!!

That's all the news I've got. Otherwise the weekend was nice because DH was here but it rained the whole time.

Hey from El Dorado, KS!

That's right, I'm at a different refinery this week... please wish me luck in getting outta here no later than tomorrow!

jrpol - congrats on selling the house! What a huge load off your shoulders. Did you guys end up lowering the price after all?

So, I ran my 6 mile leg of the Denver marathon yesterday! It was 38 degrees and raining the whole time, but otherwise it went pretty well - I walked a little bit, but finished in 1:13, a 12:16 pace - MUCH better than I expected, to be honest! I walked maybe 10mins of it. The proudest moment for me was actually running the entire 17th street hill. It was a doozy and I gave myself permission in advance to walk it, but I got to it and decided to go for it.

I'm not particularly sore, although the outside edge of my right foot has been cramping since about 2 hours after I finished running. It's bad enough I hobble a little bit, but I think it'll go away.

We had a couple of pretty fast runners, including one who booked it for nine miles at 1:16... kinda funny that she ran 3 more miles than I did, and had very close to the same time as me . Oh, well, so I'm never gonna set a land speed record, I'm just happy to finish. Overall, we ran a 4:21 marathon.

I may have mentioned this before, but i'm toying with the idea of running either the Houston or Austin half marathons... but everyone in Denver looked at me like I'm crazy for thinking I can train over the winter. Granted, I don't want to have to complete 9 miles on a treadmill, but I kind of like running in the cold... it'll just be any big snow dumps that would be a problem (oh, note to self, buy the dang yak traks that have been on your list forever).

The Accent's back in the states for the time being, so I'm happy about that. We're tentatively planning a Vegas trip next month... I've never been, and I'm not much of a gambler, so besides walking around and eating at good restaurants, do you guys have any suggestions? I think Hoover Dam is close by, right? Maybe even some hiking?

So what did everyone do over the weekend?

morning 20's!

I had a fun weekend! We went to a SCUBA flea market on Saturday. DH and I didn't get anything, but a friend found a wetsuit for a good price. Then we went out on Clear Lake with a friend of hers. It was windy and the lake was super choppy, we even went out to the Bay and it was worse! We found a cove and swam for awhile and I tried to ski, but only stayed up a couple minutes at a time. The weather was beautiful and we had a great time!

DH and I went diving on Sunday at a local lake that we hadn't been to yet. It was really cold past about 30 feet so we stayed shallow and just checked it out, saw lots of big bluegill and a couple bass.

I ran 4 miles Sunday morning and swam about 500m at the lake after diving.

jrpol-- CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm so happy for you!

swoodyut-- great job on the marathon relay, that's great especially considering you didn't really train for it!
FYI Houston is completely sold out. I'm thinking about doing the Austin 1/2 too DH and I spent a couple days in Vegas over the summer, we don't gamble either, but we had a blast, lots of fun bars, good food, and beautiful hotels. We mostly just walked around and stopped whenever we saw something interesting.

Hi all, I've been MIA from these boards for a while now. Don't know if anyone remembers me.

For a little update, I finally found my first "grown-up" job. I'm working at a bank as a Market Research Analyst. So far it's going great!

I competed in my first 5k on Saturday. It was the Race for the Cure in Birmingham, Alabama. Over 10,000 people there. Lots. My official time was 37:13, which was under my goal of 40 minutes (yes I'm very slow)! I finished in place 454 overall, and 228 from the females. Now I'm beginning training for a 10k next month.

Ah, I forgot about Houston selling out. It would probably be rash of me to sign up for Austin at this stage, need to see how the winter training goes... esp since I'm getting excited about ski season . I'm just feeling good after the race, so getting ahead of myself at this point!

Glad Vegas is interesting even for non-gamblers. I've heard from others that it's cool enough to do what you guys do, walk around and see everything.

hi!
Exciting weekend for me (sort of)
Thursday I worked out with Haryr ( my big, burly personal trainer) mostly lower abs, and by friday night/sat I couldn't stand up striaght it hurt so bad. I didn't sleep much friday night cause of the pain, so I think I'll have to tell him to back off a bit.
Friday I started the CT wine trail with a friend from work and my bf. Fun fun fun!
Sat I had a huge fight with bf cause he told his boss he could work despite our camping plans! AGH this is the second time he's broken plans for work (he's a landscaper) SO I sat home and cried and caught up on all the shows I miss wathcing ( I love that abc and nbc and fox do full episodes for free!)
Sunday I worked at the animal shelter for a few hours and then met bf at a coffeeshop to talk. We're OK, but definietly need to rebuild some trust.

Hey all,

I didn't get much running in this weekend. Still resting my legs plus for some reason I agreed to race some co-workers after work on friday. It was just a short sprint but my hamstrings felt it afterwards. I only went fast enough to win which was maybe 75% effort cause knew I'd injure myself if I tried to show off and blow them away. I ran 3 miles this morning and felt ok but there is still some soreness.

I didn't go to Six flags yesterday like I planned. It was raining pretty steadily and we decided to save our tickets for a time when the rides will actually be open.

jrpol - Congrats on selling the house. What area are you guys looking to move to?

swoodyut - Congrats on the race. It is kind of hard running in the snow but you should be able to train outdoors all winter. I do here in Chicago. When it snows I just alter my course to go along plowed roads instead of trails. I did buy snowshoes from REI during a closeout sale in spring so I'll probably try that once we get some snow.

Don't have the time to write a post right now, but I'll try to get to it later! Thought I'd share a few photos quick instead.

These are from the local half marathon yesterday. My friend ran it (she's in #3 - bib 735) and since I didn't train, I promised I'd take pictures instead.

And these were just too fun not to share. This is Amy. We went to one of the local parks last night and took photos with all the fall colors.

My weekend was enjoyable as always! Amy and I went out for happy hour Friday night, headed back to my house, did some photo stuff, and then she spent the night. Or most of it anyway. Lucky girl got to get up at 5:00 a.m. to head to work!

Saturday I talked to her but didn't see her at all. She worked doubles most of last week and that early shift took her down so it was spent sleeping.

Sunday was the local half marathon and marathon. This is the one I'd tentatively thought of doing back in June but ended up not training enough for so I didn't sign up. A friend of mine ran it though (she was picture #3 above - she's also The Nurse from those of you around back in February). I camped out mile #9, which is just before this huge, mile-long hill so I ended up getting pretty decent pictures of most people. My later shots were substantially better than my first since I'd never shot a race before though!

Amy worked Sunday as well but came over after work. Then we headed off to the park to take some photos, which you saw a few of above. We spent a couple hours in the park and then headed out to pizza and wine. We came back to my house, edited the photos, and that was the night!

jrpol - Congratulations on selling the house!

swoodyut - You do realize that if you go to Vegas you're obligated to call your mom and say, "Guess what, mom? I'm in Vegas with The Accent!" And have the phone cut out.

heatherrick - I really need to go on another dive. I haven't been in so long! I'd question much of my gear even still fitting me it's been so long.
