5K by Turkey Day (Week 5)

Hey all,

Has anyone else noticed that their legs aren't as sore between runs anymore? I'm on Week 6 now, and I notice that after my runs, my legs are pretty tired and I can definately tell that I've run, but they haven't been sore the next day for a couple weeks now.

That's pretty cool!

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 5)
Thanks for starting the thread this week Aces!

I've definitely noticed that just about all the aches and pains that were there for the first week or two are gone now. I had terrible side stitches and shin splints along with sore muscles and back pains - now aside from tired legs, everything seems to have worked itself out. It is pretty cool!

W5D1 down - my legs felt like lead by the end but I finished. The dreaded 20 minute run is looming. How is everyone else?

W4, D3 Done today..I am nervous about this upcoming week, but I am really trying not to think about it. I just need to get out there and try my best to ignore the time.

Good luck this week everyone! We are 1/2 way there!

Morning, everyone! W5D1 is down for me, too. Moppet, I hear ya on the 20 minute run. It's almost here! I just hope it's easier than I'm thinking. I'm sure it will be. This morning felt great, though.

Good luck : )

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 5)
Well, I was sore after my very first day - I waited way too long before stretching after my run, and I felt like I'd been beaten for 2 days after. But since then, with a good long stretch after each run, I haven't been sore at all.

Just finished W5D1. The last 5 minutes were a bit of a struggle, but overall I felt fantastic. The weather cooperated, and there was a nice chilly breeze to cool me down. I went faster than ever, too, which is still pretty much a snail's pace, but enough to keep me happy. I won't lie - I'm dreading Saturday.

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 5)
I'm feeling better this week so I am going to repeat all of week 4 since I only completed W4D1 and half of W4D2 last week. I ended up finishing the week with W3D3 just to make it a little easier on myself.

D1 was easier the second time around, so I am hoping the rest of the week will go ok.

Aces - I too have noticed that I am not as sore after running and my shin splints are gone. WooHoo!!!

I tried doing W4 a couple of times but I think I'm going to go back to W3. Jogging for 3 minutes is getting easier but I think I need more practice!

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 5)
I finished Wk4 D2 last night on the treadmill. I've been dreading having to get on my treadmill because I thought it would be harder. I actually found it easier. The time flew by.

I think it was easier because once I set my speed, it was like the pace was set and I could just breathe.

I am totally in love with the feeling of completing a hard workout. Never thought I would love exercise more than cake!!

W5, D1 - Done!

I skipped the day of rest...I was lagging behind too much
Really though, I think I have been dreading this week since the beginning. I have to say that this has been my best run yet. I ditched the podcast and listened to my own music and it felt sooo good. But,that was on the treadmill. I really need to get back outside.

My bad news for the day...the 5k I planned on signing up for, it turns out it's a 5 mile...they have a 2 mile fun run, but I might look for another run instead.

Hi everyone I haven't posted before but I will be doing W5D2 later today. Am I the only one who is doing the C25K by distance? I didn't start reading the forum until last week and then realized that it seems everyone else is doing it based on the time aspect. Am I missing anything by doing it based on distance? Just curious.
