Silly question, but where do you put your stuff?

Hello,

I am 1/3 of the way thru my second week of C25k, and just wondering what are you supposed to do with your keys/phone while you run?

Also, right now I leave my water at home, and just drink before and after. Is this OK?

Thanks for the help! It's great to have a place where I can ask stuff like this!

Cheers,

rachel

I have a reflective wrist pouch I bought at a sporting goods store (name of which I can't remember now!). It has a zipper and can hold keys, IDs, etc. It was less than $10.

I also have a house key taped to the back of my iPod, inside the case, just in case I ever lose my keys on a run. It's paranoid but it's makes me feel better.

this may sound silly, but i have a spare car key on a keyring that i connected to a hair tie. i just keep my key in my hair basically, and lock my other belongings in my car.

Hi Rachel,

I take my boyfriend with me, he carries everthing. LOL! Just kidding, I only carry a key and I keep it in my shoelaces.
My understanding is that you don't need water until you are running for over an hour.

Congrats on starting the program! I loved it (ok, well, sometimes I'm not sure love is accurate, but.... )

I have a velcro armband pouch that I actually wear around my ankle that holds my phone and key. You can see it in my profile pic. I found it in one of those magazines filled with cheapo household gizmos - but it does the trick, lasting over a year now.

I slip my keys over my index finger and carry them and my iPod in the palm of my hand. Other than that, everything stays in the car. It was awkward the first couple of times but now I don't even feel them there.

I don't think you really need water at this point although you should make sure you're drinking throughout the day. I keep a bottle in the car for a few quick sips afterwards but I rarely need much.

Running shorts have a small pocket in the waist band for a key. I'm not sure what purpose a phone would provide on a run so it would stay at home. Water will not be needed until your runs get over an hour.

It's all attached to my pitbull. Seriously.

I made a little pouch that holds keys, my phone (to call for help if needed, and also has a gps in it, when I get lost), my iPod nano, and doggie bags. The pouch attaches to his leash.

I'm making little saddle bags for the dog to hold all of that plus water for us both, too, just haven't finished them yet.

I lace my key into my right shoe. It muse be my right shoe. I wear my watch on my left hand. Then I'm balanced and I go.

I don't carry water or I Pod, or gps or phone or pepper spray, I just like to lace up the shoes, put on the watch an go.

All of my long runs are loops around the neiborhood, or through parks, I know where all of the drinking fountains are.

I leave for my runs from my house so only carry my ipod & water. For races I use my shoe pouch for my keys, money, etc. I ruined a cell phone when I first started running because I either held it in my hand or tucked it in my shorts waistband - all the condensation got into the phone, it stopped working & voided the warranty because the indicator inside showed too much moisture. so now I leave the cell phone at home.

here are links to what I use:

water bottle which can also hold keys, id, money, etc:

water bottle on belt:

I don't use this, but thought it was pretty neat idea for a cell phone:

I only have my watch & my Ipod... on the weekends if my husband is still sleeping then I just hide a key and leave. I don't carry water b/c I don't think I need it, I'm only running a 5K... once I get up to an hour or a 10K I think I'm going to just double my run so I'll leave a bottle outside my house and on the double up I'll grab it and drink some... I don't carry a cell with me b/c I run around my house and can get home incase something happens.

What stuff? I just hide my key and run. If it's hot or I'm going to be out for a long time I run a route that has water available.

I have a key hidden at home. But I however always take my phone as last year I hurt my knee and have had surgery so in case I need picked up I always take my phone.
I actually have a fanny pouch for the phone and anything else I may want to bring with me as I run with 2 dogs.

I use Race Ready shorts and just love them. My driver's license and a credit card goes into one velcro pocket, and car keys go into the other one. Ipod, sweat rag, and any other junk get tossed in the other pockets. I haven't yet found a good solution for carrying water. However, my runs haven't been long enough to need them yet, so I just leave a cooler in the car.
