Short distance

Hi.I'm new to the community.I live in California and I'm a short distance runner hoping to transition to running long distance.Any advice?

We can give you lots of advice. But...at least I need to know:
When you say "short distance runner" do you mean "sprinter"?

Build slowly (no more than 10% increase per week, 5% is safer). Work up to 4 shorter and 1 longer run per week. Long run no more than 1/3 of your weekly mileage. Run easy to build a base. Easy means conversational pace.
