I successfully added myself to the map, Joe. I have no idea what I'll be doing at the Houston Marathon because they don't have the voluteer registration up on their webpage yet. I'm hoping to be at a water station, but I'll let you know once I've officially signed up. I talked to someone at lunch today who will be running in the half marathon as well.

I added myself to the map.

Marilyn, I'm running about your pace on my shorter runs. I race at about a 11:30 mm, but I train much slower. During my long run, I train at about 13:30 - 14 mm because it keeps me going nice and easy.

Joe, how about those Red Sox last night? My new crush is Dustin Pedroia.

Hi all,
Haven't checked in for a while - I am still with you in spirit. I am trying to get my mileage back to a steady 15/week. I only run 3 days a week and sometimes have trouble getting to 10.
Just wanted you all to know that we made the front page of cool running where they post some of the daily threads!

3.04 in 28.47 Tom thumb out and back. Waited a little late to run, but I at least got a run in. 9.28 pace so maybe if I can loose this 35 lbs my pace will come back to me.

Peg and I do seem to be on the same wave link...a woman needs to gather all the impertinent information in order to form an educated opinion...for all you lost on what we are talking about see the "men in tights" thread.
Couldn't get my lazy ars out of bed this morning to get on the tm...will attempt again tomorrow morning. It is hard when it is so dark out when I get up.
Need to have my DH take a pic of me running for the new map - thanks for getting it going Joe.

MomAt40Pls, sounds like you, I and Jeep should plan to run a half marathon together as I think we are all at about the same pace. But slow still beats the couch every time. lol

Carol40, there is a guy that does his speed work at the park where I frequently run. He is always telling me how important speed work is and how frequently he works on his speed. Then mysteriously I don't see him for a while, sometimes for months at a time. Saw him again tonight and AGAIN, he told me about the importance of speed work and also that he was AGAIN injured and had to take two months off from running. Makes one think that we all need to take it easy when injured.

I know that this guy can run a mile in the time it takes me to do a little over a half mile. But I've managed to do many more runs than he has and have been able to be much more consistent with training. MomAt40Pls, Jeep and I run at the right pace...for us.

Chuck43, I have tried to look into the Breast Cancer Marathon in Florida in February. I had a few questions and sent them an email. Never heard back from them. I think that part of the course is run on a sandy beach but am not sure that I want to do that type of run for the first time ever as part of a race.

The training schedule said 5 for today so I went out and did an easy 5. Only problem was that the schedule said 5 miles and I ran 5K.

Hi There!

Joe suggested that I check out this discussion board - so hello! (Thanks for the invite, Joe!)

I'm "training" for my first 1/2 marathon (that is, if you count my resetting my training schedule for week one over & over again!!). I have 3 girls & have been trying to get back into running for quite a while now - was difficult after baby girl #3 and she's almost TWO! YIKES!!

Looking for some inspiration. I seem to do super well when I stick to my routine in the wee morning hours - whenever I get off track for any reason, I find that days go by without my getting back on schedule. Suggestions? Words of encouragement?? Please!!!

My alarm is set for 5 a.m. - so, I'll check in and let you know if I get my planned 3 miler in tomorrow. Good night!

Ran on the tm yesterday! Yippee! I was SCARED. Now that I ran my 1/2 I guess I was afraid some sloth gremlin put magic on me and I wouldn't be able to run. The 3 miles were slow and I struggled to stay motivated, but I imagine that a huge part of that had to do with running the tm. With the fires as they are, I may as well get use to the tm. It is going to be pretty toxic around here for awhile. My folks lost their cabin and my sister almost lost her house. Thankfully, the most we have suffered is horrible smoke.

lauren-welcome! We expect to hear about your run in the morning.
