Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of October 21st
Rest day for me today.

Good luck to all the racers this weekend.

Laura, welcome.

LSD tomorrow. Schedule says 9 but it will probably end up being a repeat of last weekends 8. We'll see.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of October 21st
Thanks for the "welcome" messages! I DID run this morning - 3 miles - it felt great!! I look forward to getting to know you guys - thanks for the support.

Many reasons I've had difficulty being consistent (or shall I say, "excuses!?") - mainly revolving around sick kids, sick (or tired) myself and/or working too late into the night (on either office work or house work!), so that I miss the early mornings. Gotta quit that!

I added myself to the map. I plan to either run the Seabrook 1/2 in March or the Dallas 1/2 in April. I'll decide soon - don't want to miss out on registration (like I did for the Houston, unfortunately!). Currently I'm undecided as I've never run trails before (the Seabrook is trails) - thoughts?

In the past I've run multiple 5Ks and a few 5 milers - have never broken into distance running - thus, my new goal!

Happy weekend. Joe & Peg enjoy the Houston 1/2 relay (and anyone else that's running in it that I don't know about!).

Laurel S.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of October 21st
Good morning. Ran about a mile and half last night and the calves tightened up and were hurting. I stopped running, came home and massaged and iced. I really hope this doesn't happen in my race. I was not a happy camper.

Like that website Joe - lots of neat shirts.

Rest day for me. Got my little one's soccer game, shopping, and take her to a slumber party, then going on a date with the hubby.

Have a great weekend.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of October 21st
Dates with hubby's are always a good thing.

Hey, Joe, how did the 9 miles go? It was cold, cloudy and windy here. But I am proud of myself because I ran the 9 miles. Time was really not too bad either when I consider the weather. Of course, by January, I will be thinking that temperatures in the high 40's are summer like. Guess I'm just not use to it yet. We have been having very mild weather around here but a lot of wind.

Good luck to our runners this weekend.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of October 21st
How's everyone? Watching football? Running? Eating?? LOL

Stan - re: winter clothes, I have been out in cold (sub 20) weather in 2 layers of pants (something tight, close to the skin and a loose pair of running pants) and 2 layers of shirts. I haven't had to spend lots of money...cheap layers!! Like a wicking long-sleeve shirt and a fleece outer layer with a tall collar. I have a headband ear-cover thing to keep them warm. And if it is super cold/windy I'll put on the balaclava. Check out Wal-mart! I actually have found most of my stuff at Meijers, but I think they are a local Michigan chain.

Peg - Have a great time with the hubby! Hope your calves are feeling better.

Laurel - WELCOME!!

Joe - the San Antonio sounds like a great time! We'll just have to see if travleing will be in the "budget" ...definitely would be lots of fun.

wbertha - congrats on completing your 9 miles!

Today I did a fairly strenuous hour on the elliptical. I still can't run on the ankle, maybe another week and the PT will put me on the treadmill. I told him I want to do a fun run race on the 13th so we'll see. I'll put it on the calendar anyway!

5 mile run this evening in the wind 48.36. Good run.
We looked at us a place in Pensacola today and we think we're going to make the move. If so, I'll be in my old running neighborhood.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of October 21st
Good evening everyone. Just got back from my date with hubby. Had a steak, baked potatoe, and 2 glasses of wine. Had to stop myself there due to racing tomorrow. Yeah, and the date could have been better. That's alright.

Well, I will plug in after the race tomorrow and let you all know how it goes.

Man Chuck, sounds like a nice place. My parents live in Punta Gorda, Florida. I was actually born in Lakeland, Florida but moved when I was less than a year old to New York for a little while and then came to Texas.

Well have a good evening.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of October 21st
hey Peg, It is a very nice place. Giving up 4 acres in the country to move to a small but very nice city is a big step, like I said tho I've lived there before and loved it. Everything but work is within 15 mints.
