wberth - I'm a Cheesehead too! That was an amazing game Monday night! I was so ticked off when Denver was able to get their kicking team on the field so quickly and then of course the kick was good. Then that TD pass on the first play in OT. Amazing. I am SOOOOO going to miss Favre when he finally packs it up. We usually head up to Lambeau for a game each year, but can't this year because we are going to a wedding in San Francisco instead. I'm bummed.

Welcome back, KKay!
Good luck in the race, Matt, your goal pace sounds really fast, wish I could dream of 45 mins!

CTmama, the age graded time is an "equivalent" time for open competition. In other words, if you were 19-35 instead of ???? your time would have been approximately your age graded time.

Another interesting age grade you can look up is how your performance ranks against other runners your age, would you be in the top 50%, top 30% or only top 70%. There are rankings connected with this but I forget how they work, top 10% is nationally competitive, 10-20% competitive at the state level and so on down. You would not believe the times you have to achieve just to be a reasonable club runner at the local level!

Week starting off poorly for me as I have not run since Sunday, and with kids at the door tonight will not run today either, a 3 day gap, oh well..
Simon.

Is Glover's plan on the internet anywhere? Had a bit of a search but i've only come up with books and even then nothing that looks quite right?

Finally put myself on the map and now sat on my own in the UK... Will add my races when I have time (been a bit busy at work today) and once i've conviced myself to actually do them...

4.5m for me tonight! Hope you all have fun trick or treating... it's not such a big thing over here, but no doubt i'll run into one or two whilst i'm out. Hey - maybe if I run with a bag I could collect treats of my own

Happy running!

Thanks for the welcome back, everyone!

Peg312 ~ I recorded the marathon documentary and then watched it while I was on the treadmill this morning. I choked up at the end too. It made me really want to run a marathon someday. But first I need to get through a half marathon!

I ran one mile on the treadmill this morning and didn?t have any shin pain at all. So hopefully, if I just go slow adding my mileage, I will be in the clear.

I will be glad when Halloween is over. We have already been to two Halloween parties and it takes a long time to get 5 kids into their costumes! I think I will let DH take the kids trick or treating while I stay home and hand out the candy.

Question - I have been pondering over this for some time. I started running on May 31, 2007 with the C25K program. I am now training to run the half in Jan, as you know. I am a little frustrated that I haven't been able to run over 3 miles without taking walk breaks. (sometimes even during 3) I am starting to question my training schedule and wonder if I should start slower and start again??? But now, I worry it is too late. Or should I just keep going as is and incorporate the walk breaks and one day I won't have to? Hmmm, not sure what to do, what are your thoughts??

Peg, could it be that you're running too quickly? I am only able to continue past a couple of miles if I run really slow. And I mean REALLY slow. I can do six miles now without stopping to walk (probably more if I pushed it, but I'll gradually improve) but only when I'm running at about a 13 mm or even slower sometimes. I started C25K in April, so we have similar time experience here.

I had a team lunch today and a coworker asked about my running, she is a triathlete and knew that I'd been running lately. I told her that I'm up to 15 mpw and my long run is around 6 miles. Another coworker piped in that it was great - sounded like I was on track for training for the 20K in May. Then the first coworker said, "Wait - you can run ALL six of those miles without stopping?!"

Well, yeah... I know I'm not Steve Prefontaine, but she could have hidden her incredulity. It's not THAT far of a stretch.

Hi everyone,
Peg, have you thought of Gallo-walking? I started doing it when I started my half training and it saved me. I now run 5 min./walk 1 min. for all of my runs over 5 miles and many of those under - plus my time is usually faster than when I just try to solely run. It is a good way to "not feel guilty" about doing some walking. I have a friend who does walk breaks and she did a marathon in 4 1/2 hours 6 months after her baby was born.
Hi to everyone else.

Peg-I trained from June to October with walk breaks. (Run 5min/walk1min) I never even tried to go without one because I didn't want to hurt myself and/or over train. I did my 1/2 a few weeks ago and ran the entire thing. I just ran slowly and was so pumped up I couldn't walk. Now that it is over, I am going to start working on all running on my short weekday runs and keep up the walk breaks during the long runs.

As for the Bachelor, yes Bettina HAS to go. Of course, they edit the show so much. I think if it was as bad as they painted it, then he would have let her go. I like Jenni, but I don't think they would last if she is dancing in AZ for a year. I like Deanna and her family. As long as he doesn't pick Bettina, I will be happy.

I also watched and recorded the PBS show about training for a marathon. Very inspirational. Guess I should have used it today for my run as I was totally unmotivated (which is really not like me). Forced myself to run 3 slow miles on the treadmill and then just called it quitting time. Will hopefully be able to run outside tomorrow and will hopefully be a bit more motivated. I am thinking that I may need to just take it a bit easy this week on both miles and pace. Seem to be very, very tired and really don't feel like running. May just need some down time.

The Pack is awesome. The overtime was definitely Favreian.

Chuck, thanks for the Florida info. I am currently thinking of doing the Half Marathon in Tallahasse. Mostly because it is supposed to be quite small. Around 1,000 counting the runners doing the full marathon. Might be a nice change to try a small race. Plus my DD and I are hoping to do the Chicago Distance Classic in August and it caps out at 20,000 runners. Might be nice to experience both the small and large races.

Hi everyone, did a 45 min strength video this afternoon and then ran 2 miles real close to home. Didn't want to get egged. LOL.

Hi to everyone
